Rachel’s Challenge will be presented to all students and staff members at Voorhees High School on November 29 and at North Hunterdon on December 1.  Rachel’s Challenge was created in memory of Rachel Scott, the first person killed in the Columbine High School shootings on April 20, 1999.  Rachel’s acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for this life-changing school program.  She wrote in her diary, “I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same.”  (more…)



Baseball field renovation

Thanks to donations of time, money and materials from local businesses and parents involved with the booster clubs, the varsity baseball and softball fields at North Hunterdon High School will be brand new for the spring season.

Parents involved with the Baseball and Softball Booster Clubs at North Hunterdon High School knew the fields were in dire need of renovation, from re-grading of the field to new backstops and new batting cages.  In fact, a strong downpour could make the baseball field unplayable for the rest of the day.  Parents approached coaches and the athletic department to learn the process of how they could help make the renovation a reality.  (more…)



Two seniors from North Hunterdon and Voorhees High Schools were named as Semi-Finalists and 26 seniors were named as Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Special Education 8th Grade Parent Orientation meeting will not be held on Thursday, November 3 at Voorhees as originally scheduled.

The Parent Orientation will now be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30PM in the cafeteria at North Hunterdon High School.



North Hunterdon High School will host a cardiac screening program for young adults aged 14 to 20 on November 19, 2011 in the school nurse’s office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Two rooms will be used and appointments will be scheduled every 6 minutes.  (more…)



At its meeting on October 18, the Board of Education appointed two new members to fill vacant seats.  Colleen Ingram of Lebanon Township was appointed to the High Bride/Lebanon Township seat and Marc Strauss of Clinton Township was appointed to the Clinton Township/Lebanon Borough seat.  Welcome and congratulations to our new Board Members!



The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District was awarded a safety grant check in the amount of $41,400 by the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group (NSJABIG).  The grant money must be used to invest in safety and security-related improvements within the district.

The district applied for the safety grant in May 2011 and, in accordance with its application, will use the funds to complete repairs or replacements of interior and exterior walking surfaces at both North Hunterdon and Voorhees High Schools, including but not limited to floor tiles, carpets, doormats, stair treads, sidewalks, parking areas and curbs.  (more…)



Tewksbury Township resident and Voorhees High School senior, Antoinette Metzler, took her AP Biology final project one step further by creating a field guide about the plants that surround the historic farmhouse on the Voorhees High School property for her Girl Scout Gold Award submission.  (more…)



In December 2009, Connor Ventura, a senior and soccer player at North Hunterdon High School and Union Township resident, found out that he had a rare brain condition called Arnold Chiari Malformation.  He underwent brain decompression surgery at The Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital.  Fully recovered and considered extremely lucky, Connor decided to give back to the center that saved his life.  He raised over $8,000, which the Weill Cornell Center will use to create a website where pediatricians can learn more about Chiari Malformation and for research into the rare condition.
