On Saturday, January 20, 2024, ten students from the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District participated in the Symphonic Honors Band Concert held at Somerville High School after being selected by the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA). The concert consisted of about 85 students from 23 high schools in Central Jersey. The ensemble was conducted by Dr. Julia Baumanis, Associate Professor of Music Education at Rutgers University.
The students selected from North Hunterdon High School were: Stephen Kotran (flute/piccolo), Rebecca Tsang (flute/piccolo), Cullen Elliott (tenor saxophone), Kayla Blazovic (trumpet), Joshua Evans (trombone), and Mia Henck (clarinet; she was unable to participate in concert due to illness). Students selected for Voorhees High School were: Juliann Bonomi (percussion), Simon Rainey (bassoon), Tristan Dornbusch (alto saxophone), Ava Freligh (alto saxophone), and Amanda Kranich-Schaefer (baritone saxophone).
Students were nominated for the CJMEA Symphonic Honors Band by school band directors from the Central Jersey region. Selected students met for the first time on Saturday morning January 20th and rehearsed for five hours prior to performing in the concert.
