Physical Education-Athletic-Sports Gym Day-Use Locker Rules & Protocols

  • Period-Only Use: Day-use lockers are strictly for the duration of your scheduled physical education period. Belongings cannot be left overnight. Some Athletic sports have their own lockers. Please consult with your coach on specific locker rules.
  • Bring Your Own Gym Lock: Students must provide their own secure combination or key lock for gym lockers. The school is not responsible for items left in unlocked lockers. Locks will be clipped if students are not attending to their locker.
  • Lock It or Lose It: All personal items including backpacks, clothes, shoes, and electronics must be placed inside the gym locker with the lock securely fastened before leaving for the gym floor. The board is not responsible for items destroyed or stolen from lockers.
  • Immediate Clean-Out: Locks and all personal belongings must be removed immediately at the end of the class period so the locker is available for the next session. Locker cleanout reminders will be given by Physical Education/Coaches throughout the school year and/or announcements. Please reach out to you PE teacher or Coach for further questions.
  • End-of-Day Cutoff: Any locks left on day-use lockers at the conclusion of the school day may be cut by the Custodial/Maintenance staff, and the contents will be placed in lost and found by the Attendance office unless otherwise approved by a PE teacher or Coach.
  • Athletes & Special Accommodations: Standard day-use lockers are for PE class only. In-season athletes and students with approved medical or adapted PE needs will be issued locker assignments through the Athletic-Health Department/Coach.
  • Prohibited Items: Locker rooms are a phone-free zone. Cell phones need to be locked and off in your assigned school locker in Aspen. No recording devices, food, liquids, any substance in violation of applicable law and/or School Board Policy or perishable items are allowed in the lockers at any time.
  • Lockers are the property of the District: Lockers may be searched by staff. if there is reasonable suspicion that the locker may contain any substance in violation of applicable law and/or School Board Policy.  The locks will be removed (at the expense of the student) and the contents of the locker will be confiscated and given to lost & found and eventually thrown out after a set time.
  • Proper Dress for Physical Education and Athletics: Students must be prepared for class each day with appropriate athletic clothing and footwear. The Physical Education and Coaching staff reserve the right to determine if a student’s attire and footwear is safe and suitable for the scheduled activity.
