On Saturday, November 16, 2013, five New Jersey High School choral ensembles will come together in the Princeton University Chapel to celebrate the English composer Benjamin Britten’s 100th birth-year by performing two of his works for choir and organ, Rejoice in the Lamb and Jubilate Deo. The Voorhees High School Show, Concert and Madrigal Choirs will take part in this joint ensemble.
The concert will feature Princeton University organist Eric Plutz, as well as guest conductor Ryan Brandau, conductor of Princeton Pro Musica and Monmouth Civic Chorus. High schools from Scotch Plains-Fanwood (Jan Allen, conductor), Seneca (Robert DiLauro, conductor), Voorhees High School (Michael Schmidt, conductor), and Bridgewater-Raritan are bringing their best singers to participate in this experience. The festival is being hosted and organized by John Wilson and the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Choral program. In addition to the two pieces listed above, each high school choir will perform a brief set of music on their own.
The concert will start at 7:30pm on November 16 in the Princeton University Chapel. There is a $10 suggested donation that will be taken at the door. For directions to the Chapel, please visit http://www.princeton.edu/religiouslife/chapel/hoursdirections/.
