The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District announced that students from both of its high schools have been accepted into the Central Jersey Music Educators Association Region II Choirs and Instrument Ensembles.
From North Hunterdon High School:
- Andrew Bambridge (Percussion Ensemble, Percussion)
- Heather Birmingham (Mixed Choir, Soprano 1, 9th chair)
- Emily Chen (Symphonic Band, Flute)
- Morgan Evans (Mixed Choir, Soprano 1)
- Tim Gallagher (Orchestra, Trumpet)
- Caitlin Mangan (Mixed Choir, Soprano 1, 2nd chair)
- Alexandra Russo (Women’s Choir, Soprano 2)
From Voorhees High School:
- Brianna Lemenze (Women’s Choir, Soprano 2)
- Elizabeth Maszczak (Mixed Choir, Alto 1, tied for 2nd place in the Region)
- Taylor Newman (Wind Ensemble, Battery Percussion, placed 1st in the Region)
- Cory Nunn (Wind Ensemble, Trumpet)
- David Thompson (Mixed Choir, Tenor 1)
Over 500 students in central New Jersey auditioned to earn a place in these choral and instrumental ensembles. The Orchestra and Percussion Ensembles will perform on January 6, 2013 at 3:00pm at Montgomery High School. The Wind Ensemble will perform at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Montgomery High School. Both the Mixed and Women’s Choirs will perform on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2:00pm at Monroe Township Middle School.
The Mixed Choir will be conducted by Nicholas McBride from Clearview Regional High School, and Michael Schmidt, Music Teacher from Voorhees High School, will serve as the accompanist for the Mixed Choir. The Women’s Choir will be conducted by Patrick Hachey from Roxbury High School. The Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Renshaw, Professor of Music, University of Connecticut.
