Our district is proud to announce that longtime Board of Education member, Debra Roosen, has been selected as the New Jersey School Boards Association’s (NJSBA) 2012 Board Member of the Year. An independent panel recognized Ms. Roosen’s “dedication, leadership and vision as a local school board member.” Ms. Roosen will be honored with a plaque and special recognition during NJSBA’s Annual Workshop in Atlantic City, NJ on October 23.
NJSBA established the Board Member of the Year program in 2005 to recognize the contributions made by school board members to improve public education in their communities. This year, many nominations were received on behalf of highly qualified school board members throughout the state.
Debra Roosen has served on the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District’s Board of Education for the last 16 years, representing Bethlehem Township, Glen Gardner and Hampton. Previous to the high school district, she served on the Board of Education for Bethlehem Township School District for nine years. She is currently the President of the Hunterdon County School Boards Association. She serves as a delegate to the New Jersey State School Boards Association. She earned the status of Certificated Board Member in 1995 and Master Board Member in 1997.
Ms. Roosen has been a great asset to the NHV Board of Education because of her compassion for students and staff members and dedication to public education. Congratulations to her for this well deserved award!
