Spearheaded by Flemington VFW Post 7856 and the Borough of Flemington, the annual Memorial Day Parade is a deeply rooted community tradition honoring the brave service members who died in the line of duty. Rooted in the post-Civil War origins of Decoration Day, the parade steps off at 10:00 AM from the intersection of Church and Main streets.
The procession features local veterans’ groups, civic organizations, and classic emergency vehicles, with the 2026 musical lineup highlighted by both the Hunterdon Central Regional High School marching band and the North Hunterdon Golden Lions marching band. The march concludes at the historic Flemington Soldier Monument on the Flemington Green for a solemn memorial service, wreath-laying, and musical tributes. Originally erected in the late 1890s for Civil War soldiers and rededicated in 1996 to honor all veterans, this monument serves as the central gathering point to ensure the ultimate sacrifices of local heroes are never forgotten.
