Steve Syrstad brings 40 years of experience in sports medicine to Voorhees High School and has served the Voorhees community for more than two decades. Throughout his career, Steve has been a trusted advocate for student-athletes, emphasizing physical rehabilitation, safety, evidence-based care, and proactive injury prevention.
At Voorhees, Steve helps oversee the comprehensive health and safety of student-athletes. His responsibilities include injury prevention, emergency care, clinical evaluation, rehabilitation, concussion management, and assisting with the development and implementation of the school’s Emergency Action Plans.
A major part of Steve’s approach is education and empowerment. He works to help student-athletes better understand injury prevention, recognize health concerns, and develop healthy habits that extend beyond their high school athletic careers. He also works closely with school physicians, nurses, coaches, and families to provide coordinated care for Voorhees student-athletes.
Steve believes athletic training extends beyond treating injuries. His goal is to create a culture of safety and education that helps Vikings remain healthy, competitive, and successful both on and off the field.
