Congratulations to the Girl’s Track & Field team as they placed 3rd at the Skyland Conference Relays on Saturday at Hunterdon Central. It was a great team effort in which 23 girls scored points for North. The 4X800 meter relay team qualified for Penn Relays with the 3rd fastest time in the state, Morgan Harvey ran the 4th fastest 400 hurdle time in the country, and Amy Suttmeier had a meet best 127 feet, 3 inches in the Javelin. Great day girls!
Congratulations to the Boy’s Track & Field team as they placed 12th at the Skyland Conference Relays on Saturday at Hunterdon Central. Dave Mugavero ran 4:19 in the 1600m and 2:00 in the 800m. The last athlete that we had that was able to do that was Matt McDonald. Matt is currently on the nationally-ranked Princeton Track team. Also, Walter Roper ran his 200m leg of the 4 X 200m in a blistering 21.9 seconds! In my 33 years with the North program, we had only one or two that was capable of running a leg in the 22’s. We have never had a guy who can go in the 21’s… until now. These were not the only stellar performances. Our 4 X 800m team all ran 2:08 or better. Sam Layding ran a 1200m leg in 3:16- a terrific time, and Walter Roper added two 50.0-second 400’s to his outstanding day.
