A year after winning the H/W/S Tournament title, the Lions took a step backward last season after losing much of its firepower from that championship team. As a result, North scored just 24 goals in 18 games and suffered its first sub-.500 season (7-9-2) since 2012. Coach John Simpson‘s answer to that is bringing back a wealth of experience. Working from the back line, senior keeper Tyler Peragallo, senior center back Mark Winter, senior center mid Joey Steitz, and junior center midMichael Sabatella have not only experienced the highs and lows of varsity soccer but they should be among the area’s best players. Assuming expanded roles on varsity are senior mid/defender Byron Jurkouich, senior defenders Cole Marra andMatt Martinez, senior striker Jordan Sawaged, and junior mid Gabe Volpe. Varsity newcomers who bring exceptional speed to the front are seniors Dylan Ottinger and Jack Carroll.
