Austin Arndt delivered a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Shane Cassidy and lift North Hunterdon to a 2-1 victory over Newton in the quarterfinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament in Annandale.
Marc Monks went 2-for-3 for North Hunterdon and Thomas Schumacher had a double. Griffin Hatton got the win in relief with a scoreless ninth after John Wilson threw the first eight innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk.
The Lions will face Vernon in the Semifinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament in Annandale on Saturday.
