B-G LAX win big Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex County Quarters games

RobMarronBLAXBLAX – North Hunterdon 10, Vernon 6: Rob Marron scored five goals to lead third-seeded North Hunterdon (12-7) over sixth-seeded Vernon in the quarterfinals of the H/W/S Tournament. Jared McMahon scored a hat trick and Rory Alpaugh collected a goal and three assists for the Lions. The team will travel to Sparta on Monday in the Semifinals of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex County BLAX Tournament.

Grace-Plassche-GLAXGrace Plassche joined the 100 career GLAX goal scoring club by netting four goals to push fourth-seeded North Hunterdon past 13th-seeded North Warren, 13-3, in the first round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament in Annandale.

Abby Miller, Nicole Perez and Breanna Cavanaugh each added two goals for North Hunterdon. Shannon Gurreri, Emma Corcodilos and Natalie Fitzpatrick also found the back of the net. Taylor Danson made one save in the win.

The Lions will host Voorhees HS on Friday in the second round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex County GLAX Tournament.

Lions tame Tigers in the First Round of Boys State Tennis

  • Eric Moul places first in the boys 400 meter hurdles and Third in the 110 meter hurdles.

John Wilson dominates Newton in the HWS County Baseball Quarterfinals

​NHHS-Baseball-Team-2015John Wilson pitched a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and went 3-for-4 with two runs Saturday to spark North Hunterdon to a 9-0 win over Newton in a Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Baseball Quarterfinals.

Jeff Gernon and Tom Schumacher each had three hits and Gernon also scored twice for the Lions. Shayne Fontana doubled and homered and Billy Russo drove in three runs.

North Hunterdonn will host Hunterdon Central in the H/W/S Semifinals on Saturday ay 1:30pm.​

Sean Wood of North Hunterdon tallies 100th career point

Sean-Wood-100goalBLAXClubSean Wood of North Hunterdon reached 100 points for his career when he struck for two goals and one assist in a 12-10 win over Watchung Hills on May 1st. Wood entered the day with 99 career points, and his performance helped North Hunterdon secure a key win at the start of May. Wood now stands at 74 goals and 42 assists, putting him at 116 points for his career.

North Hunterdon girls lacrosse overcomes six-goal deficit to beat Voorhees

CarolineColemanCongratulations to the GLAX team defeating Voorhees 14-13. North Hunterdon trailed for the majority of the game against Voorhees but managed to overcome a six-goal deficit to earn a 14-13 deficit.
Caroline Coleman finished with six goals and Plassache and Cavanaugh each registered a hat trick and two assists. Nicole Perez chipped in with two goals and Emma Corcodilos and Shannon Gurrei had an assist apiece. Taylor Danson came up with 10 saves for North Hunterdon.

North Hunterdon boys lacrosse dominates fourth quarter and defeats Immaculata

BLAX-Beats-Imm-4-29-15The North Hunterdon BLAX team defeated Immaculata 10-6 on Wednesday afternoon thanks to four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter. Freshman Jared McMahon led the Lions with three goals and scored the winning goal in the fourth quarter with 8:13 left in the game. Rob Marron and Sean Wood each added two goals. Zach Koehler anchored the Lion defense in the fourth quarter, saving multiple Immaculata attempts late in the game and recording 12 saves overall.

JUST THE STATS: Many currently holds a .436 batting average and has driven in a team-high 16 RBI this season. She is second on the team with five doubles and is a main reason why North Hunterdon currently sits with a 10-3 record. In four games last week, in which North Hunterdon won all four, she went 7-for-14 at the plate with eight RBI.

Grace earned varsity letters in Field Hockey and Girls Lacrosse and will be attending Brown University in the fall. Samuel earned letters in Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field and Spring Track & Field and will be attending Lehigh University in the fall.

Boys Lacrosse Monday, May 4th JV 5:00 & V 7:00 (Senior night) 

In keeping with our traditional to raise money and awareness in the month of May the boys and girls lacrosse programs are teaming up to raise awareness and money for pancreatic cancer.  The games will be dedicated to Jennifer Hoban, mother of Meghan & Katie Hoban, who recently lost her battle with pancreatic cancer this January.

 

For the second year in a row our Boys and Girls Lacrosse Programs with the help of a large contribution from Girls Basketball this year were able to raise over $2,000 again! Thanks to the collective efforts of our programs as well as the support of the North Hunterdon community our Girls Lacrosse Booster club will be writing a check for $2,250 to The American Cancer Society in the name of Jennifer Hoban.

If you are unable to make it to the games there will be a donation box in the Athletics Office.  Please make checks payable to The American Cancer Society.

Lions shine in First Round of the HWS County Softball-Baseball Tournament

Faith Lindabery and Isabella Many each collected two hits and combined to drive in two runs for North Hunterdon, which opened it up with four runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Slusar yielded two hits and two walks while striking out seven. The Lady Lions will host Lenape in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Eve Glasergreens Penn Relays 3000-meter performance good in multiple facets

EVE-PennRelays2015Eve Glasergreen’s result in the 3,000-meter Championship of America race Thursday evening at the 121st running of the Penn Relays resulted in a 10th place overall in a time of 9 minutes, 57.93 seconds.

Also good for North Hunterdon was carrying a classy Penn Relays round plaque home after winning its heat in the 1,600-meter relay Thursday afternoon. The quartet of Esther Obidike, Anna DiMarcello, Maddy Wolf and Nicole Tampone dominated the race from the start and finished first easily in 4:14.41. It was the 204th best time of the 623 1,600-relays run Thursday at Penn.

North Hunterdon girls 3200-meter relay run at Penn Relays

North Hunterdon’s girls 3,200-meter braved the elements on a very chilly and blustery Thursday morning at the 121st Penn Relays in Franklin Field at Philadelphia.

The Lions posted a time of 9 minutes, 57.89 seconds, finishing 15th in their large-schools heat. They did not qualify for Friday’s championship final.

North Hunterdon beat Voorhees thanks to 13 hits, including two extra base hits. North Hunterdon scored four runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Fontana, an error, an RBI single by Tom Schumacher, and an RBI single by Andrew Meiners.

Girls Track and Field 4X800 team Qualifies for Penn Relays

penn-relays-logoA big congratulations to the Girl’s Track & Field team today.  The 4X800 team of Anna DiMarcello, Eve Glasergreen, Carmen King, and Kelley McCarten qualified for the Penn Relays last Saturday as they won the Skyland Relays and ran a time of 9 minutes 36 seconds to qualify.  The girls are one of 70 teams in the country to qualify.  Also, congratulations to Eve Glasergreen as she qualified for the prestigious 3000 meter race.  Eve is one of 25 girls in the country to qualify for that race.  Great job girls!

North Hunterdon trailed 7-5 at halftime, but outscored Somerville 11-2 over the final 25 minutes to pick up the win. Breanna Cavanaugh and Grace Plassche each notched three goals and two assists for North Hunterdon. Abby Miller added two goals. Shannon Gurreri, Jenna Macri, Emma Corcodilos and Caroline Coleman chipped in with one goal apiece. Taylor Danson made nine saves in the win.

Lions hold off the Lions for a big 5-4 win

NHHS-Baseball-Team-2015ShayneFontanaHitShayne Fontana pitched 6.1 strong innings and was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs Thursday as North Hunterdon held on for a 5-4 victory over Pope John. Andrew Meiners’ RBI triple keyed a three-run fifth inning for North Hunterdon. Josh Grunden relieved Fontana and recorded the last two outs to preserve the win.

North Hunterdon boys lacrosse team cruises by Delaware Valley

SeanWood3The North Hunterdon High School boys lacrosse team took an 11-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a 15-2 victory over Delaware Valley on Thursday night at Singley Field.

Sean Wood paced the Lions with four goals. Rory Alpaugh, Rob Marron and Griffin Middleton each tallied a pair of goals.

North Hunterdon Baseball and Softball handle Phillipsburg – 4-1-15

Carly SeveriniHR-NJSIAA-SemisCarly Severini went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs as North Hunterdon posted a 14-5 home victory over Phillipsburg on Wednesday to open the season. Meghan Graham added three hits, three runs and two RBIs for the Lions.

JohnWilson-PitcherJohn Wilson pitched a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and Austin Arndt delivered a two-run double Wednesday to power North Hunterdon to a 9-0 victory over Phillipsburg.

Wilson had a perfect game through five innings and had his no-hitter broken up with two outs in the seventh. Tim Heard also drove in two runs for the Lions and Shayne Fontana smashed an RBI triple.
