The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District is proud to announce that North Hunterdon High School Mathematics Teacher, Kathleen Carter, is a 2013 State Finalist for New Jersey for The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). Mrs. Carter will be recognized at the New Jersey State Board of Education Meeting on December 18, 2013 in Trenton, NJ. The national winners will be announced next summer and will receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation. National winners will be honored at several events held in Washington, D.C.
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are the nation’s highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science). Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education. Since 1983, more than 4,200 teachers have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.
Kathleen Carter has been a teacher in the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District since August 2006. She currently teaches Algebra II Honors, Discrete Math, and Financial Literacy.
