At its July 26th meeting, the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District Board of Education unanimously approved Ms. Susan Hammerstone to be the new Assistant Principal of Voorhees High School effective August 22, 2011. She will be taking Ron Peterson’s position as he was recently approved to be the new Principal of Voorhees. Hammerstone is currently the Vice Principal of Delaware Valley Regional High School.
“I am looking forward to joining the Voorhees High School community as Assistant Principal. It is an honor to have the opportunity to get to know and work with the students, staff and parents at a high school with such an outstanding reputation both county and state wide,” said Susan Hammerstone.
Susan Hammerstone was chosen from over 100 internal and external candidates who applied for the position of Assistant Principal. She has spent 20 years at Delaware Valley Regional High School where she began her career in education as a science teacher. She became the Director of Athletics and Supervisor of Health and Physical Education in 1996 and held that dual position for 12 years. She was Interim Principal for a year and has served in her current position as Vice Principal for Discipline, Attendance and Student Affairs at Delaware Valley for the last two school years. In addition to her teaching and administrative experience, Hammerstone has been an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Muhlenberg College, Head Coach of Girls Track and Field at Delaware Valley Regional High School, and most notably spent 10 years as the Head Coach of the Girls’ Cross Country team for Delaware Valley.

Her ability to lead and collaborate will greatly enhance the educational performance and culture of Voorhees High School,” said Ron Peterson, Principal of Voorhees High School.
Hammerstone received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science/Biology from Cook College, Rutgers University in 1986 and her Master of Arts degree in Education from Lehigh University in 1991. She also has her Masters in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University and she is certified to teach in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
