The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District announced that the following 39 students have been named Commended Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.
From Voorhees High School: Laura Chen, Peter Fiori, Timothy Gallagher, Nicole Garrett, Zachary Ogorzalek, Christopher Romero, John Roncoroni, and Alyssa Tombs.
From North Hunterdon High School: John Anderson, Michelle Cecil, Matthew Chang, Kyle Conover, Siddharth Datar, Noah DiRoberto, Mary Evers, Andrew Ferrante, Thomas Flynn, Joseph Gallo, Kevin Garvey, Candy Greczylo, Justin Johnson, Sarah Khan, Tucker Kirchberger, Helen Liu, Lawrence Luo, Kelly Mahaney, Jessica Mitchell, Robert O’Dell, Erik Pan, Rupsa Paul, Kyle Piekarski, Cameron Puc, Shankar Sundaresan, Francesca Tangreti, Alisha Vekaria, Brian Weller, Thomas Westra, Jessica Zalot, and Bree Zhang.
A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by the high school principals to these scholastically talented seniors.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
