Class Routines/make ups

Classroom routines and procedures  

Establishing clear classroom routines and procedures is necessary for ensuring that our classroom runs smoothly and learning is enhanced.

Students need to know what is expected of them in the classroom

Classroom environment: the basics:

1. Our classroom is “a working environment”you are evaluated every day-based on/ time to the task/ time on the task/ Intensity time.

2. Our classroom is attractive (loaded with maps to be used often as references), comfortable (tables & desks), and functional (easy access to all materials-books/computers)-act appropriately.

3. Specific established procédures and routines are necessary for success & has been discussed with you stressing their importance for leaning and respect, knowing this process fosters a team concept.

Establish procedures and routines:

1. Get needed materials- special paper- books (discussion weeks-non case study days) – (electronic devices charged for daily use-)-in a timely manner

2. All text books are maintained in the classroom (Text books-College level books & AP level books)-we recommend you buy your own text for highlighting & to use at home

3 .Label special paper with date and overarching concept & EQ for the day from the syllabus

4. 3 Mods–READING/Vocab/research  first 20 minutes=mod 1/ followed by discussion 20 min.+mod 2/followed by wrap up based on day of the week 15 min.=mod 3

5. Appropriate times for moving around the room in first 20 minutes/Going to the restroom

6. Signaling for quiet and attention/ announcements for beginning of discussion in second 20 minutes

7. Socratic discussion-(middle 20 min.)

Last 15 min. Monday=maps   Tuesdays=Quizlet  Wednesday=models  Thursday=Albert

8. Concept Evaluation-fridays (small group discussion & submitted on google docs)

9. Army  Assessments-fridays (large group discussion & board presentation)

10. Case study(follow directions on “How to analyze a case study”)

Make-up procedures and routines: Preview or Review of material/E-books on  webpage  or personal book

  1. Classwork-–GO TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM assignments-follow directions for use of special paper-do everything you would be expected to do in class
  2. Concept Eval & Army assessment–made up in class during mod 3
  3.  Failing grade will be placed on Aspen until you make it up-this is done to ensure prompt make-up
