Proposed Plan

With the increased complexity of assignments and use of technology, the classroom-homework connection will become even more of an issue with respect to academic integrity. Across our school community and with all stakeholders, we need to promote a conscientious and uniform understanding and awareness of academic integrity.  We need to create consistent definitions/expectations for assignments so that students will understand how to complete them without cheating.  We need to teach students how to ethically and responsibly use the technology that supports their learning but also makes it much easier for them to cheat.  We need to provide parents with more tools and guidance so that they can become equal partners in helping to create an environment that foster academic integrity.

“If cheating behavior is seen as normal, there is no violation of ethics and thus no need for neutralization” (Rettinger & Kramer, 2009).
