Connor McMahon scored a game-high five goals and had one assist as North Hunterdon defeated Princeton, 11-7, in Annandale.

Jared McMahon had two goals and two assists while Sean McQuade and Rob Scimeca had two goals and one assist apiece for North Hunterdon, which had a total of 35 shots and outscored its opponent, 3-1, in the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead. Bobby Brennan netted one goal and Randy Ryan recorded 11 saves.

HUNTERDON WARREN COUNTY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARD – Given by the Hunterdon-Warren County Athletic Association to a male and female representative of North Hunterdon High School for scholastic and athletic achievement.  The Hunterdon/Warren scholar athletes from North Hunterdon are:

Skyler Farrand – received varsity letters in Volleyball, Cross Country, Winter Track and Spring Track & Field.

Joe Steitz – received varsity letters in Soccer and Lacrosse.

Twenty scholar-athletes and two scholarship winners were honored in Phillipsburg on Tuesday.

The senior attack is no stranger to big scoring totals, but she outdid herself with a career-high 10 goals in a 15-8 victory over Somerville.

Perez tallied a total of 24 goals as the Lions went 2-2 in a four-game stretch against the Pioneers (W), Morristown (L), Hunterdon Central (L) and Watchung Hills (W).

Meghan Graham led the way for North Hunterdon going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in its 11-6 victory over Allentown in Allentown.

Maria Newsome went 3-for-3 with two RBI for North Hunterdon, which scored four runs in the fourth inning after trailing 3-1. Jack Kennedy pitched four innings, allowing no runs and two hits while striking out five and walking one to lead sixth-seeded and defending champion North Hunterdon to a 15-0 victory over 19th-seeded Hopatcong in the first round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament in Annandale.

Matt Wagner went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs for North Hunterdon. A 10-run fourth inning broke open the game for North Hunterdon. The highlight of the inning was Mike Vallario’s triple. Billy Russo, Dean Severini and John Macce all had singles in the fourth.

North Hunterdon will host 11th-seeded Hunterdon Central in the second round on Saturday

John Macce executed a suicide squeeze with runners on second and third base to plate the winning run for North Hunterdon in its 3-2 walk-off victory over Somerville in Annandale.

Macce drove in all three runs for North Hunterdon in the victory. Tim Schumacher allowed one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in a complete game.

Maggie Swan pitched a two-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts, also going 3-for-5 with four RBI to help North Hunterdon earn an 11-0 victory over Voorhees in Glen Gardner.

With a 5-0 lead, North Hunterdon outscored Voorhees 4-0 in the fifth inning, and 2-0 in the seventh.

Meghan Graham went 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI, while Eliza Filus went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI. Megan Hanily went 1-for-3, while Jensen Macaulay went 1-for-2 with two runs. Hunterdon County Democrat boys tennis notebook for Thursday, April 13

North Hunterdon is off to a terrific start to its season with a 3-1 record, winning its first three matches of the season before suffering its first loss, 4-1, to Rutgers Prep on Wednesday. 

Third singles junior Eric Liu was the only player to win his match against Rutgers Prep (6-1, 7-5) and is undefeated on the season. Liu is a part of a junior class that makes up six of the seven players on the North Hunterdon squad.

Paige Petty and Laurel McHale scored five goals each as Bernards, No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated North Hunterdon, 15-5, in Annandale.
Hanna Christian followed with two goals as Madison Paulik, Bridget Cawley and Jenna Scarpa also scored. Annie Thomas paced the team with three assists as Charlotte Grimm totaled five saves.
