PARCC stands for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, and New Jersey public school students in grades 3-11 are required to take the PARCC assessment.  For the class of 2020, students who do not meet the proficiency scores in grades 9, 10, or 11 can demonstrate proficiency through alternative assessments or a PARCC portfolio.  For the class of 2021, students must obtain a proficient score of 4 (meets expectations) on the ELA 10 PARCC assessment or demonstrate proficiency through a PARCC portfolio.

The ELA assessment will consist of three different tasks:

  • Literary Analysis Task
  • Research Simulation Task
