Winter Sports Registration 2023-2024

Aspen will be open to accept winter sports registration from October 16 through November 13, 2023.  Winter sports offered at Voorhees High School are: Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys & Girls Fencing, Wrestling, Boys & Girls Indoor Track, Boys & Girls Swimming, Winter Cheerleading-Wrestling & Competition Squad, Winter Cheerleading-Basketball, and Unified Basketball. NEW this season – Ice Hockey! Ice Hockey will be a joint team with North Hunterdon. Click here for start dates, tryout information, and pre-season meeting dates.

If your child is interested in participating in winter sports, please log into your parent Aspen account, click on Page Directory on left hand side, then click on Voorhees Sport.  Fill out the Consent for Participation Form and Health History Update (these forms must be completed for each sports season your child participates).  A valid physical form must be on file in the health office, meaning one that has not expired within 365 days of the sport’s start date.

There is a requirement for students to complete for sports registration.  Student-athletes must go into their student Aspen account, click on Page Directory, click on VH Student, and complete the Sport Wellness Acknowledgement Form.  Students will need to watch the NJSIAA Opioid information video and read the Sudden Cardiac Death pamphlet from NJDOE then click Yes for each and submit the form.  These two items are in the parent Consent for Participation Form, but students need to also acknowledge that they have read/watched the items before they can participate in sports.

If your child needs an Impact baseline test because they are a new student or test has expired (to verify, run Checklist Report at the bottom of Voorhees Sport section), your child will receive an email to their school email account to complete Impact testing remotely. Impact test is valid for two years.

If you have any questions about winter sports registration, please contact the Athletics Office at (908) 638-2199, option 4.

Fall 2023 Sports Registration

Aspen, the North Hunterdon-Voorhees district’s student information system, is now open to accept required annual health forms for the 2023-2024 school year and registration forms for Fall sports. Parents can register their student for Fall sports from July 10 through August 4, 2023.  All forms must be filled out in Aspen, with the exception of the physical form which must be submitted directly to the health office. Physical forms are required for sports and intramurals and for any student new to the high school district.

Freshmen parents – if you did not receive the automated email to set up your parent Aspen account, please contact our database manager, Sherri DiMarcello, at sdimarcello@nhvweb.net and she will resend the information to you.

ALL PARENTS – Annual Health Forms:

Health forms must be completed annually in Aspen for every student. Log into your parent Aspen account and click on Page Directory on left hand side. Click on Health Forms to fill out all required health forms for the new school year. Health forms must be filled out annually for each student. If you recently filled out health forms for summer intramurals, you do not have to fill them out again.

INCOMING FRESHMEN AND FALL SPORTS ATHLETES – Physicals:

All incoming freshmen and new students to the district must turn in a valid physical by August 1st to the school’s health office.

For Fall sports athletes who need to submit a new physical, we recommend a valid physical be turned into the health office at least two weeks prior to the start of the sport so there is no delay in practicing. School physician must review all physicals before athlete is cleared to start practice. A valid physical is one that is dated within 365 days of the start date of the sport.

The original and signed physical form must be dropped off or mailed to the health office – keep a copy for your records. The only exception is freshmen parents can turn in a photocopy of a current physical as their child’s previous school may have the original. For a blank physical form, please visit the health office website – https://www.nhvweb.net/vhs/healthoffice/.

REGISTRATION FOR FALL SPORTS AND MARCHING BAND:

The Fall sports offered at Voorhees High School are listed below with names of the head coaches. Please click here for starts dates for each sport. To register your student for Fall sports or marching band, log into your parent Aspen account and click on Page Directory on left hand side. Click on Voorhees Sport to fill out the required sports registration forms.  You will select the sport of choice or band in the Consent for Participation Form. You can run a checklist report at the bottom of the Voorhees Sport section to see if you are missing any required forms. For help navigating the Voorhees Sport section, please click here for assistance.

ImPact baseline test for concussions is required and the test is valid for two years. Incoming freshmen parents received an email from the athletic trainer on how freshmen could complete ImPact testing at home (check your junk folder if you don’t have it). Only students who never had an ImPact test (i.e. incoming freshmen or new students) or whose test has expired will need to complete testing (trainer already reached out to juniors with expired tests). If you need an Impact test and did not receive the email with link, please reach out to athletic trainer Keith Skinner at kskinner@nhvweb.net.

Athlete’s Responsibility for Sports Registration:

There is one form that student-athletes must fill out themselves in their own student Aspen account for sports registration. Athletes need to log into their student Aspen account, click on Page Directory on left hand side, then click on VH Student, and complete the Sports Wellness Acknowledgement Form. In the form, athletes will review the Sudden Cardiac Arrest pamphlet from NJ Department of Education and the Opioid Video from NJSIAA. Make sure they click Submit at bottom of form so the form goes through.

If you have any questions about required forms, please contact the health office at 908-638-2148.
