Providing the opportunity for students to generalize skills from a structured environment into the natural community setting while increasing independence in daily living tasks and preparing for life after high school.
Community Sites we visit: (Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are trip days)
Wal-Mart/Kohl’s/Shop Rite/Stop & Shop/Michael’s/Bed, Bath & Beyond/Rite Aid Pharmacy/Post Office/Phillipsburg & Bridgewater Mall/Best Buy/Target/TJ Maxx/Staples/Lowe’s/Liberty Village/Multiple Restaurants/LINK Shuffle Bus (Using Public Transportation)
COOKING: Students are exposed to 4 different areas of cooking: breakfast, snack/dessert, lunch, & dinner.
APARMENT & DAILY LIVING: Students work in groups with their “roommates” to complete a list of daily living chores including: cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, laundry, & making a grocery list (for upcoming cooking activities).
