Welcome to English I Advanced. In English I Advanced we will develop fluency in listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, studying, and critical-thinking skills. The course focuses on vocabulary, grammar usage and mechanics, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph logic, fundamentals of writing, and major literary genres. We will write in a variety of modes,and practice all stages of the writing process (prewriting, drafting, revising, and reflecting).
In our literature course, we will work toward understanding that:
- Authors meticulously craft works of fiction and nonfiction with specific literary elements to develop a story with nuanced and complex meaning.
- Meaning is extracted from a text by analyzing literal, figurative, and implied information.
- A full understanding of the text is developed through meaningful analysis and insightful claims.
