Ellie DiMarcello leading a strong frontal attack for defending champion North Hunterdon with a winning time of 18:15, the Lions put three runners ahead of Ridge’s second runner on the way to a 32-41 victory for its second straight Skyland Conference Cross Country Championship.North Hunterdon just missed breaking its second course record of the season by averaging 18:47.8, No. 2 in course history. Ridge averaged 18:57.8. Voorhees set the course record when it ran 18:45.4 in 2012.
North Hunterdon’s top five were Ellie DiMarcello, sophomore Angela Kearsley, third in 18:34, senior Anna DiMarcello, fifth in 18:43, sophomore Emily Nugent, ninth in 19:00, and sophomore Brenna Talamo, 15th in 19:27.
It was the second straight major victory for Ellie DiMarcello, who has been torching courses every time she takes the line. At the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex Championships on Oct. 13 at Phillipsburg, she ran a course record 18:12.5.
