Joining Romero in the winner’s circle at Shore Coaches was North Hunterdon senior Ray Sellaro, who won the Varsity B race in 16:16, the sixth fastest time overall.
The Lions, which averaged 17:02, placed second to Kingsway, 55-90, and ranked fifth in a meet merge of results behind Kingsway, Hopewell Valley, Princeton and Christian Brothers.
North was rounded out by junior Christopher Fischer (seventh, 16:47), junior Dillon Adamy (10th, 16:54), sophomore Gavin Richards (21st, 17:11) and senior Joseph Gallo (51st, 18:02).
North Hunterdon, led by junior Ellie DiMarcello, averaged a meet-best 20:05 and won the Varsity A race with 69 points, beating West Windsor-Plainsboro South (107) and Randolph (109). In fact, the Lions ranked No. 1 in a meet merge of all girls teams.
DiMarcello placed second to Randolph’s Abby Loveys, 19:02 to 19:09, as the Lions pushed three runners into the top four. Sophomore Chloe Gonzalez was third in 19:26 and junior Emily Nugent was fourth in 19:30. Overall at the meet, DiMarcello’s time was eighth fastest, Gonzalez was 11th and Nugent was 13th. North was rounded out by sophomore Samantha Kehler (26th, 20:55) and sophomore Carleigh Haris (35th, 21:16).
