North Hunterdon Lions Varsity Nabs Win Over High Point Despite Early 3-Run Inning

High Point scored three runs in the sixth inning, but North Hunterdon Lions Varsity still won 7-4 on Saturday. High Point scored its runs on a single by Jim Finnerty.

North Hunterdon Lions Varsity got things moving in the second inning, when Matt Busher doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

North Hunterdon Lions Varsity put up three runs in the third inning. Mike Pierce, Cole Salemo, and Chris Markovich all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Busher got the start for North Hunterdon Lions Varsity. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and four runs while striking out five.

Sam Armstrong toed the rubber for High Point. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out two. Matt Sunda threw three and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

North Hunterdon Lions Varsity collected nine hits on the day. Michael Pierce, Matt Wagner, and Busher each collected multiple hits.

High Point didn’t commit a single error in the field. Matt Carter had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
Jonathan Borque picked up the save pitching 1 1/3 innings.

Busher added a double and two RBI from the plate. Jonathan Borque closed out the game for North Hunterdon with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Mike Pierce, Cole Salemo and Chris Markovich all chipped in an RBI apiece for North Hunterdon.

Jim Finnerty knocked in all three runs for High Point.
