Message From the Director Of Athletics:
Our athletic program meets the basic needs of many students and is of great value to them. The success of our program is due to a large extent to the work of the coaches and students involved.
Extracurricular and interscholastic activities are strictly a voluntary program. Those who participate must give extra effort and time. The student has the privilege of participating in a well organized program of special interest for which the school provides coaches, sponsors, equipment, and facilities.
Because inter-scholastics are voluntary and because those participating represent North Hunterdon High School, we expect the behavior of those who try out and participate to be of the highest order. This is particularly true of academic requirements, honesty, school citizenship, and sportsmanship. The dignity of the school is reflected in its athletic/activity program. Since it is a privilege to participate and represent the school, it is logical that the school has the authority to revoke the privilege for those who do not conduct themselves in a responsible manner. This sense of responsibility extends to the activity as well as to conduct inside and outside the school.
The spectator also has a role in the program. If the program is going to continue to be successful, the spectators must encourage good sportsmanship, courteous treatment of visitors, and absolute fairness under all conditions. This year we ask all fans to remember that “Athletics is fun” and do your part to keep it fun by following these personal rules:
1) Be Courteous – to the teams, officials, and other spectators.
2) Be Enthusiastic – By “rooting” for your team, not “booing” opponents or officials.
3) Be Fair – Have confidence in the honesty and integrity of the officials. Remember that they are neutral; you are partisan.
4) Be Cooperative – Don’t walk on any playing area. Let the coaches coach, players play, and officials officiate.
5) Be a Good Sport – By all out support of your team before, during, and after the game.
6) Be a Good Fan – This is a game with a respected opponent: not a fight with a bitter enemy.
7) Enjoy the Game! – Let the athletes play the game, the coaches coach and the officials officiate.
Athletics – An Integral part of Education – Participation in Athletics compliments Adult Success
Thank you
