Penn Relays 2016: N.J. girls 4×800 teams fail to advance

North Hunterdon, which had high hopes of advancing to the 12-team C of A race after placing 7th in 9:10.22 at the the New Balance Indoor Nationals last month, fell short of its goal of making the final by placing 6th in its Large School heat in 9:23.37, the top NJ time overall in the 4 qualifying heats. Anna DiMarcello anchored for North Hunterdon in 2:14.38.

North Hunterdon’s 9:23.37 was the 17th fastest time of the 69 teams that competed. The 12th and final qualifying time was 9:18.84 by Cardinal O’Hara of Pa.

Maggie Swan pitched a four-hitter, allowing two runs and one walk with nine strikeouts for North Hunterdon as it defeated Ridge, 3-2, in Basking Ridge.
Meghan Graham was 3-for-4 for North Hunterdon, including the go-ahead run in the seventh inning off a wild throw.

Jared McMahon and Nick Gurreri each scored two goals to lead North Hunterdon to an 8-4 victory over Hillsborough in Annandale.
Griffin Middleton, Rob Scimeca and Jack Graham added a goal apiece for North Hunterdon, which led after one quarter, 3-0, and made it 6-3 at the half.
Thomas Boland had one goal and two assists for Hillsborough.

Meghan Graham finished with 3 singles and 4 runs and is 15 for her last 16. Bell Many had 3 doubles, 3 RBI’s and scored 2 runs.
 
Maggie swan pitched the distance and collecting her sixth win of the season only giving up 2 hits and striking out two. Maggie also chipped in with 3 hits including a triple and driving in 2 runs.
 
The Lady Lions will travel to Pope John next Saturday in the third round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Softball Tournament.

Meghan Graham went 5-for-5 with two RBI, homerun and two runs for North Hunterdon, Lindabery had two hits with two RBI and one run and Isabella Many had three hits with two RBI and two runs.

AdamHettThe North Girls Lacrosse program will be hosting a Cancer Awareness game on April 21st against Hunterdon Central at 6:30pm. The Boys program on April 29th. Proceeds will benefit Adam Hett, a local fireman and 2014 North Hunterdon graduate, recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The Quakertown Fire Dept is also going to be at the game to collect the donations and bring a truck to hang a banner off of during the game.

On Saturday, May 7th, the Quakertown Fire Company at 67 Quakertown Road in Pittstown will be hosting a barbecue to benefit Adam Hett.

  • Eric Moul takes 1st in the Boys 400 Meter Hurdle Relay.
Girls: 
  • Skyland-Relays-4-16-16-4x800RelayThe Ladies dropped a fast 4×800 as it gears up for another shot at the Penn Relays. The Lions crossed the line in 9:30.00 with a lineup consisting of freshmen Elena DiMarcello and Angela Kearsley as well as juniors Kelley McCarten and Anna DiMarcello.
  • The Ladies take first in the 3×400 hurdles with Gabrielle Beneducci, Megan Stenberg and Emma Mikitiuk. It was only the second time that Beneducci competed in the event finishing third overall with a time of 1:08.31. Stenberg and Mikitiuk crossed the line in Skyland-Relays-4-16-16-3x400Hurdles1:10.05 and 1:12.28 respectively.
