Gymnastics Senior Spotlight – Grace French
Senior Athlete: Gymnastics
Current Team stats: 1:1
2016 -2017 marks Grace French’s fourth year as a dedicated athlete and leader on the North HHS Gymnastics team. She is a second-year captain of a small but extremely talented and motivated team. Although each athlete competes individually on each of four events per meet, Grace thrives when seeing her teammates support each other during practice and competitions. She whole-heartedly believes her strong team will earn a high division ranking this year.
North HHS is Grace’s first experience with competitive gymnastics. She had been immersed in the sport recreationally for ten years prior and in middle school added sports such as Parkour, track, climbing, martial arts, and softball. In her sophomore year, Grace joined a competitive JOGA gymnastics team at her private gym, Shields Gymnastics, Flemington, NJ. By the end of her junior year, she earned a Division State Champion Title for the Floor Event. Her favorite event has always been Vault, though she is challenging herself by learning new skills on Beam, so her current focus and motivation is competing on a new beam routine this season.
North HHS Pep Rallies, Homecoming, Regionals, and Team Banquets are some of her best memories, but Grace cannot wait to play again in the Powder Puff football game! She is also really looking forward to her second season of NHHS Spring Track! Grace is very grateful to have been scouted and to have earned this incredible cross-training experience at North with the Spring Track Team.
Grace hopes to continue athletics in college and pursue a major in sports medicine.
