Coaches vs Cancer Gymnastics against Bridgewater

Our North team was terrific in the handstand contests and flutter kick challenges. They even inspired their opposing team, Bridgewater Panthers, to join in the Mat Flip Relay and the Backflip Rally Circle!
Thank you, Debbie House and the entire exec board, for leading Booster Club’s efforts to raise awareness and funds for cancer research among all the fall sports.
Thank you, Dr. Bergacs, for supporting the team this season, this Coaches Vs Cancer event, as well as recognizing our Captains with pink roses at today’s pink meet opening ceremony.

Noah Jefferies, Joe Jara, and Hunter Esposito scored for Ridge to beat North Hunterdon, 3-1, in Basking Ridge.
Andrew Barton and Julian Larrondo each had one assist and Jason Clingensmith had five saves for Ridge which was tied with the Lions, 1-1, at the half.

rorydalesandro2016Finnegan led the North Hunterdon rushing attack with 190 yards on 21 carries as Busher added 55 yards on 12 carries. Jacob Berg was the top receiving after hauling in three receptions for 53 yards.

Rory D’Alesandro was successful on all four North Hunterdon point-after attempts and connected on a 37-yard field goal.

Junior quarterback Matt Busher continued his outstanding season by completing 19 of 37 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-0, 175-pounder now has 740 yards and seven TDs passing and 337 yards rushing with nine touchdowns, which puts him over 1,000 total yards and 16 touchdowns.

Mitchell Finnegan rushed 18 times for 118 yards for the Lions, who racked up 425 total yards. Jacob Berg caught five passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns.Kayson Woolford (pictured in article) had two catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.

RaySellaro-3rd-Sectionals-2015North Hunterdon junior Ray Sellaro won the Varsity ‘E’ race at the Manhattan High School cross country Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx Saturday.

Sellaro finished the 4,000-meter course (2.49 miles) in 12 minutes and 56 seconds, edging senior Ben Kovacs of Saint John’s (Mass.) in 12:57.

The Lions finished third as a team with 139 points to Saint John’s 41 and Niskayuna (N.Y.)’s 122. Senior Austin Frank was 28th overall (13:34), freshman Gavin Richards 33rd (13:43), and sophomore Dillon Adamy 34th (13:44) for North Hunterdon, ranked No. 2 in the region by lehighvalleylive.com.

October 2016 is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Athletic Activities

BreastCancerAwareness-OctNational Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.

Below are the activities the Athletic Department will be doing to make people aware:

  • The Varsity Girls Tennis Team will be having a Pink match against Phillipsburg on October 5th.
  • The Jungle students will be wearing Pink at events.
  • The Cheerleaders will be using Pink Pom Poms during the month of October and selling Pink Out Homecoming shirts.
  • The North and Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS Football teams will be wearing pink shoe laces, wrist bands, etc  on their October 14th Homecoming game.
  • The Varsity Girls Soccer team will be wearing pink shirts on their October 20th game against Montgomery HS.
  • The Varsity Field Hockey team will be wearing pink shirts on their October 27th game against Delaware Valley HS.
  • The Singley Field turf will have pink outlined on the field.

Rebecca Sigman scored twice as Warren Hills, No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, bested North Hunterdon, 5-0, in Annandale.
Tali Popinko, Mikayla Dugan and Alyssa Appleby each scored a goal for Warren Hills.
Wesley Taylor and Caroline Petrie combined to make 20 saves for North Hunterdon.

Brie Pavol scored her second goal of the game with 14 minutes left to give Hunterdon Central, No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, a 2-1 win over North Hunterdon in Flemington.
Pavol’s first goal came just over 12 minutes into the first half, after Nina Bussanich gave North Hunterdon a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the game …

Jacob Grant, Salman Ghiya, and Alessandro Truppi scored one goal each to lead Hunterdon Central, No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, to a 3-1 win over North Hunterdon in Annandale.
Hunterdon Central received assists from Billy Montwid, Josh Bordwick, and Aidan Cook. Dan Mecadon was Hunterdon Central’s goalie of record, recording two saves in the victory.

Busher, North Hunterdon surging towards special football season

busher1005North Hunterdon has gone a long way towards accomplishing that since. The Lions have won three straight games since the opener, with defeats of Warren Hills, Watchung Hills, and Immaculata (all on the road).

And this Friday North Hunterdon could really do something special as they travel to take on 4-0 Bridgewater-Raritan in a Mid-State 38 cross-over game (7 p.m.). Defeating the powerful Panthers would certainly push 2016 towards the “special” category for North.
