girlsxc-sectional-champs-2016girlsxc-sectional-champs-resultsCongratulations to the Girl’s Cross-Country team for winning the North 2, Group 4 Sectional title on Saturday.  The girls have now won back to back Hunterdon Warren Sussex, Skyland Conference and Sectional titles.  The girls relied on another strong team effort across the board putting all 7 girls under 20 minutes to secure the victory. Sophomores Ellie DiMarcello (18:12.5) and Angela Kearsley (18:40.3) led the charge for North Hunterdon, which went 1-2-4-89.

North Hunterdon is now 2-0 this season vs. Ridge and the two juggernauts will again in the state Group 4 race next Saturday at Holmdel Park and at the Meet of Champions on Nov. 19 at Holmdel Park.

North Hunterdon football rolls past Voorhees in 41st Milk Can Game with a 42-10 Five-Peat

christofennisjb-milkcanNorth Hunterdon won its fifth straight Milkcan game in the series — a first for the game which began in 1976 — and owns a 28-12-1 record against Voorhees in the rivalry clash. North won four straight games three other times.
 

Mitchell Finnegan scored twice as North Hunterdon topped Voorhees in the 41st annual Milk Can Game. Matt Busher, Eric Dehkes and Sean McQuade also scored for the Lions (5-4), who won this game for the fifth-straight year. Rory D’Alesandro connected on six extra points. For Voorhees (2-7), Colton Riley scored on a one-yard run and George Eberle kicked a 32-yard field goal.

AWARDS:
  • Mitchell Finnegan carried the ball 22 times for 123 yards and two TDs, the first on a 33-yard dash on the Lions’ second offensive play after Voorhees punted away its first possession. Finnegan was named the Lions’ offensive MVP.
  • For Voorhees, sophomore George Eberle went 14 of 36 for 185 yards passing and was named the team’s offensive MVP.
  • Christof Ennis, who had 2.5 sacks and was named the Lions’ Most Valuable Defensive Player of the game.
  • Senior lineman Adam Murdock was the Vikings’ defensive MVP.
  • Matt Busher led the Lions (5-4) by completing 14 of 18 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown, a 5-yarder to Eric Dehkes with four seconds left in the second quarter which gave North Hunterdon a 28-3 lead at the break. Busher, who also rushed eight times for 52 yards and a score, was named the game’s overall MVP.

PowderPuff FootballpowderpuffThe Powder Puff Football Game was held on Thursday November 3, 2016 at 5:30 PM on Singley Field. 

The Annual Powderpuff game took place last night between the Junior and the Senior girls. The Seniors had an outstanding 2nd half and beat the Juniors 40-14. Big performances by Nikki Perez, Carly Monks, Cat Wilson, and Brittany Geopfert. Senior Powder Puffer Nicole Perez was the MVP. Congrats Seniors!!
Great overall performance by both teams and coaches, including the halftime cheerleading performances.  
A special thanks to all involved to make the night very fun and exciting and a special thanks to all the clubs who came out for the night to sell food for the fans. Also, special thanks to our referees for officiating the game, Mr. Delorenzo, Mr. Petraglia, and Mr. Owdij. 
A big thank you to Mr. Flynn for his great announcing throughout the whole game. And thank you to the Administration for their continued support for this great event.

The Lion scored three goals in a 4-1 win over top-seeded High Point in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex semifinals on Saturday.

Wolf had both goals in a 2-1 victory over Pope John in the quarterfinals on Oct. 15.

The fifth-seeded Lions will play second-seeded Hunterdon Central in the final at 1 p.m. Saturday at Warren Hills.

North Hunterdon Spirit Week 2016 – Monday, October 31st – Friday, November 4th

School-wide Theme: NORTH IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!

Hallway decorating:  October 31 from 2:30-4:30; November 1 from 2:30-3:10

  • Seniors and Juniors:  Mall area.
    Note: Hello Juniors and Seniors! We want you to help decorate for Spirit Week! Please join us at 2:30 to decorate the mall on Monday, Oct. 31st! Please bring: blue painters tape, paint, paint brushes, aluminum foil, black sheets or tablecloths, black paper, colored paper, scissors, glue/glue sticks, etc. (The school will provide some of these items, but to make sure supplies last, you may want to bring some items.)

Madeline Wolf hat trick is to much for High Point in Lions 4-1 HWS Semifinals Girls Soccer win

wolf-hat-trickMadeline Wolf recorded a hat trick for fifth-seeded North Hunterdon in a 4-1 win over top-seeded High Point in the semifinals of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Girls Soccer Tournament in Sussex.

It was the second multi-goal game for Wolf in the tournament, after she scored both goals in a 2-1 win over fourth-seeded Pope John in the quarterfinals. Wolf now has a team-leading 17 goals this season. Freshman Rebecca Fluchel scored the other goal, putting her right behind Wolf with 16 goals this season.

North Hunterdon advanced to face second-seeded Hunterdon Central in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Girls Soccer Tournament Championship on Saturday 10/29 at Warren Hills HS at 1pm.

Lady Lions girls volleyball wins Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex VB Tournament in three sets over Hunterdon Central

carolynlayding-hws-mvpCongratulations to the Lady Lions Girls Volleyball team for capturing the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Volleyball Championship. 

North Hunterdon, No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20, overcame a loss in the first set to comeback and beat No. 8 Hunterdon Central, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, in the final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Volleyball Tournament after defeating Hackettstown, 25-7, 25-9, in the semifinals earlier in the day at Hackettstown High School. 

Caroline Layding was named HWS Tournament MVP, as she was unstoppable offensively and defensively with 11 kills and six blocks. Hunterdon Central had no answers on how to deal with Layding’s height and length advantages.

Nina Bussanich scored a goal with two assists in North Hunterdon’s 3-0 win over Montgomery in Annandale.
North Hunterdon totaled 10 shots on goal. Rebecca Fluchel and Madeline Wolf had one goal apiece, and goalie Olivia Ripnyak secured eight saves.

No. 1 North Girls XC repeats as Skyland Champs and North Boys take 2nd at the Skyland XC Championship

girls-xc-sky-champs-2016Ellie DiMarcello leading a strong frontal attack for defending champion North Hunterdon with a winning time of 18:15, the Lions put three runners ahead of Ridge’s second runner on the way to a 32-41 victory for its second straight Skyland Conference Cross Country Championship.
North Hunterdon just missed breaking its second course record of the season by averaging 18:47.8, No. 2 in course history. Ridge averaged 18:57.8. Voorhees set the course record when it ran 18:45.4 in 2012.
North Hunterdon’s top five were Ellie DiMarcello, sophomore Angela Kearsley, third in 18:34, senior Anna DiMarcello, fifth in 18:43, sophomore Emily Nugent, ninth in 19:00, and sophomore Brenna Talamo, 15th in 19:27.
It was the second straight major victory for Ellie DiMarcello, who has been torching courses every time she takes the line. At the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex Championships on Oct. 13 at Phillipsburg, she ran a course record 18:12.5.

Emily Yanes scored one goal off an assist from Melissa Kosar as Phillipsburg tied North Hunterdon, 1-1, in Phillipsburg.
Samantha DeRogatis and Lauren Viscione each recorded two saves for Phillipsburg, which had a total of 17 shots.
Lexi Poniatowski scored off an assist from Nicole Perez and Wesley Taylor recorded 13 saves for North Hunterdon.
