carly7Carly Monks recorded 17 points for North Hunterdon in its 48-36 victory over Hillsborough in Annandale.
Kristina Harrel added nine points for North Hunterdon, which outscored Hillsborough 16-4 in the second quarter after trailing 14-10. Alexa Vasile chipped in with seven points in the victory.
Olivia Buckman paced Hillsborough with 13 points.

North Hunterdon Girls Lacrosse Clothing Drive on Saturday, January 14th

ClothingDriveNeed to clean out closets to make room for new gifts?  Then consider donating clothes and other items to the North Hunterdon Girls Lacrosse Clothing Drive on Saturday, January 14th. The Clothing Drive will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Clinton Township Police Station. Tax receipts will be available.

CLOTHING DRIVE

CLINTON TWP. POLICE STATION, 1370 RT. 31, ANNANDALE, NJ

Drive up to the front entrance and the volunteers will unload for you–no need to even get out of your car!

Please place donated items in well-tied plastic bags.
Items accepted: clean wearable clothing, women’s and men’s accessories, linens, bedding, shoes, purses, belts, stuffed animals, soft toys, hats, mittens, coats, baby gear, bikes, etc.

Please NO furniture, glass items, decorative household items, electronics, books, yard toys, dishes, pots, pans, books or mattresses.

Tomorrow – December 17th – The decision was made to cancel all practices for tomorrow. The  and the JV Wrestling Tournament at Scotch Plain-Fanwood, the Varsity Wrestling Tournament at Neptune High School and the Boys Varsity Basketball game at Muhlenberg College have been canceled.

As of now(subject to change tomorrow AM), the only athletic event tomorrow is the Boys Varsity Winter Track leaving at 1:15pm for Staten Island.

Fight Cancer T-Shirts for Wrestling Match 12-21-16

noonefightsaloneThe North Wrestling will have its opening match against Voorhees on Wednesday, December 21st  – JV at 5pm and Varsity at 7pm. This match will also be a “Coaches VS Cancer” event with money being raised for prostate cancer research. This fundraiser is a joint effort between North and Voorhees and the schools are planning events for the evening together.

Please support the effort by purchasing a t-shirt for $10 – “No one fights alone” is the theme of the evening and Voorhees will be wearing the same design on the back with their shirt saying Voorhees on the front.

North Hunterdon’s Ellie DiMarcello is the CN Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year

ellie-dimarcello-hcdroty-2016Ellie DiMarcello finished fifth at the Meet of Champions with a time of 18:40 and for her successful season, she is being named 2016 Courier News Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. 

Individually, DiMarcello continued to improve as the season progressed and earned a first place finish at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex meet, setting a new course record in 18:12.5, the Skyland Conference meet (18:15) and North 2 Group II meet. In the sectionals, she recorded the fastest time of the year in a 5K race with a time of 18:12.5 and capped off her season with a time of 18:53.9 in the Meet of Champions.

mitchellfinnegan2016mfclogoCongratulations to North Football star Mitchell Finnegan for being named to the 2016 Mini Max Maxwell Football Club Class. 

The Maxwell Football Club President, Ron Jaworski, announced the 2016 Mini Max High School Award winners for the state of New Jersey. The fifty-four players selected are from schools located in the state of New Jersey. Players were nominated by their coaches throughout the 2016 season and were evaluated based on a criteria that includes; football performance, academics, and community service.

The Mini Max Award recipients will be honored at a dinner to be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at St. David The King located in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. The awards dinner is open to the public and tickets are available on the Club’s website www.maxwellfootballclub.org beginning on Thursday, December 8th.

Matt Busher of North Hunterdon is Hunterdon County Democrat Football Player of the Year for 2016

matt-busher-hcdemocratefbpoty2016Congratulations to Matt Busher who was named the Hunterdon County Democrat Football Player of the Year for 2016. In 2016, he combined for 1,946 yards from scrimmage and 25 touchdowns and threw just four interceptions.

Busher completed 112 of 231 passes for 1,365 yards and 12 touchdowns, while rushing 111 times for 581 yards and 13 touchdowns. He set six school records, including most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in one season.

Ellie DiMarcello of North Hunterdon is Hunterdon County Democrat girls cross-country Runner of the Year for 2016

ellie-dimarcello-hcdroty-2016Ellie DiMarcello’s leadership skills were tested a year earlier than expected, so she spent the 2016 cross-country season proving she is mature beyond her years. DiMarcello, a sophomore at North Hunterdon.

When DiMarcello won, the Lions won. She captured individual titles at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex meet (18;12.5), the Skyland Conference meet (18:15) and the North 2, Group 2 meet. And North Hunterdon, which entered those meets ranked No. 1 in the NJ.com Top 20, swept those team titles as well, beating No. 2 Ridge in the process.
