Top performers: Hughes and Robinson got the pins for the Lions. Sophomore Michael Wilson (126) and senior Nick Luberto (170) each had overtime wins for the Lions. North Hunterdon junior Andrew Gapas got a 9-6 decision over Warren Hills’ Matt Valli at 132 to put the Lions up 18-4. Junior Jarod Ostir (182) and sophomore Nicholas Galka (195) had pins for the Blue Streaks.

North Hunterdon wins 700th all-time wrestling match

flynn0812When the Lions defeated Wayne Hills 53-16 in the second match of a quad meet at Ramapo High School in Bergen County, they won their 700th all-time dual match.

North Hunterdon made it 701 with a 55-15 thrashing of their hosts, and had moved to 699 by smacking Holmdel 51-19 in the morning’s first match.

The Lions, now 7-2 on the season, join Phillipsburg, Hunterdon Central, Delaware Valley and Warren Hills as Hunterdon/Warren team with over 700 wins.

In celebration of the Wrestling team’s 700th win in the school’s history, the North Hunterdon Booster Club will have cake outside the cafeteria during lunch mods on Monday (while supply lasts). A list of ingredients will be available for anyone who needs them. The Athletic Department will present a plaque this Thursday, January 12, 2017 during the Lenape Valley Wrestling match.
Congratulations to the Wrestling team on this great milestone!
