Classroom Behavior<\/b><\/p>\n

All students are expected to be <\/span>respectful, positive, contributing<\/b> members in this class. Be polite and thoughtful of one another. \u00a0Appropriate classroom behavior includes basic good manners, as well as courtesy and respect for other people and their ideas. \u00a0Your main student responsibility in this class is to demonstrate <\/span>respect<\/b> for the teacher, for other students, and for yourself. To demonstrate this level of respect, you must:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Attend class regularly; alert the teacher to planned absences and contact teacher regarding missed work.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Arrive to class on time by taking your seat and preparing materials before the bell.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Be prepared for class with needed materials, homework, and all graded assignments.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Meet all deadlines (assignments are due at the beginning of class).<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Use your time wisely.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Actively participate in class discussions and group assignments\u2026 or at least be engaged in the process.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Stay positive, pay attention, listen, and avoid being a disruption or distraction.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Work cooperatively with other students.<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Use all school materials and technology carefully and appropriately.<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Use computers only to access tools or view sites as directed by the teacher; other use results in immediate loss of computer privileges for the day and a reduction of participation grade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If behavior problems arise, expect to speak with me privately. \u00a0If the problem is not resolved, expect other parties, including other teachers, administration, and parents, to become involved.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

    Grading<\/b><\/p>\n

    Grades are calculated using a total point system: <\/span>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Assignments are \u201cweighted\u201d based on the points assigned. \u00a0For example a quiz will be assigned more points than homework. \u00a0A test or project will be assigned more points than a quiz, a classwork assignment or homework. \u00a0Grades are assigned according to the chart below and are calculated using the total points system in Aspen; check it frequently to know your current grade status in the class. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Participation<\/b><\/p>\n

    Each student will receive credit for participation. \u00a0For each day of class, students will receive 2 points for being on task and invested in the day\u2019s activity. \u00a0Students will receive 0 points for the following reason(s): \u00a0being on a cellphone, being on a chrome book for a non-class related reason, napping, working on other assignments. \u00a0A participation grade will be posted to Aspen weekly and a chart will be kept in class should a student need clarification. <\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Cheating and Plagiarism<\/b><\/p>\n

    Simple: Do not cheat or plagiarize. \u00a0Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and will receive grades of 0%. \u00a0Do your own work, and give credit where due when using other people\u2019s ideas, words, photos, images, lyrics, etc. \u00a0Copying homework is plagiarism and will receive a 0%.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Absences and Makeup Work<\/b><\/p>\n

    Regular attendance in class is imperative to both your own understanding of class material and to the dynamic of the classroom environment, as all students are expected to be active contributors to class. \u00a0Therefore, make every effort to attend class consistently. \u00a0You will have one week to make up missed work including in-class work, quizzes, and tests. \u00a0<\/span>Homework should be submitted on the day of your return to school.<\/b> It is <\/span>your responsibility<\/b> to speak with me regarding missed work, to collect your missed materials, and to copy notes from another responsible student. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Tardiness<\/b><\/p>\n

    Regular tardiness disrupts the beginning of class routine and is a distraction to both the teacher and students. \u00a0Therefore, it is your responsibility to be <\/span>in your seat with the required materials<\/b> on your desk when the bell rings. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Late Work<\/b><\/p>\n

    Late work, including homework, essays, and other graded assignments will be evaluated on a situational basis by the instructor. In most cases, late assignments will lose 10% for each day that they are late. <\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Extra Help<\/b><\/p>\n

    I am always willing to meet with you after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (late bus days), if you arrange an appointment with me. \u00a0Teachers appreciate students who take extra interest in their work and seek out extra instruction and guidance. \u00a0Asking questions is a strength \u2013 never a weakness.<\/span><\/p>\n
