For all interested students – Ms. Hardy – from the food services staff will be outside the cafe as you exit the building daily.\u00a0 She will have a lunch and breakfast (for the following day) available for all students free of charge. You don\u2019t need to sign up, you would just grab it and go. The lunch does require you to heat up the items once home.\u00a0 For those students staying through for sports or drama club (and signed up on the google form), please make sure you grab a hot lunch from inside the cafeteria and don\u2019t take a bag from Ms. Hardy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Voorhees High School Drama Club will be virtually presenting its winter musical <\/span>Curtains <\/span><\/i>on April 16 & 17 2021 at 7pm. Tickets to the virtual performance cost $15 and can be purchased by visiting<\/span> https:\/\/voorheeshs.booktix.com<\/b>\/<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Academy will distribute the homemade soap from their fundraiser next week.\u00a0 They will be outside the school on Monday 4\/19 and Friday 4\/23 from 12-1PM. You can also pick up soap directly from Ms. Clifton in Room 333 during the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As you are aware, we are marking the days leading up to <\/span>GAY LESBIAN AND STRAIGHT EDUCATION NETWORK<\/b>‘S annual <\/span>Day of Silence<\/b> …Although the national Day of Silence is on April 23, Voorhees High School will celebrate the Day of Silence on April 30. As\u00a0 we countdown to that date, we’re acknowledging the meaning behind each letter in the acronym for which the day is dedicated – in this case, the acronym LGBTQ. This day is brought to you by the 3rd letter of that series, the letter B — representing the word <\/span>BISEXUAL. <\/b>There have been many famous figures throughout history who were born into that persuasion who made history.<\/span><\/p>\n

For example,\u00a0 Bessie Smith – a bisexual black woman who once not only chased off the KKK from one of her performances but was the most popular female blues singer of the 1920s and 1930s. Often regarded as one of the greatest singers of her era, Miss Smith is also hailed as a major influence on other <\/span>jazz,<\/span><\/a> blues, and rock singers, including <\/span>Billie Holiday<\/b>, <\/span>Aretha Franklin,<\/b> and <\/span>Janis Joplin<\/b>. She has since been hailed as “Empress of the Blues”, a title which earned her a seat in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a result of her influence as both an artist and performer.<\/span><\/p>\n
