{"id":5095,"date":"2018-11-19T13:14:06","date_gmt":"2018-11-19T17:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/vhs\/home\/?p=5095"},"modified":"2018-11-19T13:15:51","modified_gmt":"2018-11-19T17:15:51","slug":"fccla-students-literacy-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/vhs\/home\/fccla-students-literacy-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Pumpkins and Literacy for FCCLA &#038; Early Childhood Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Early Childhood Education and FCCLA students from Voorhees High School visited and toured KinderCare in Flemington, NJ on October 24, 2018. \u00a0The high school students decorated pumpkins, read storybooks, sang a spider song and did a floating pumpkin experiment with the Preschool Classes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing able to see a Corporate Learning Center and working one-on-one with a preschooler really opened our eyes to what goes into running a large successful center,\u201d said Lilly Barozzini. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The children\u2019s positive responses to the high school students\u2019 activities created a memorable experience for everyone involved. Following the Kindercare visit, the students had a guided tour of the Hunterdon County North Branch Library in Clinton and a workshop on choosing children\u2019s storybooks. The importance of reading to children and its benefits for literacy was addressed.
