Beginning this school year, Voorhees High School now has a chapter of the National English Honor Society.\u00a0 The Voorhees chapter held its first induction ceremony on Friday, January 26, 2018. Induction into the National English Honor Society is open to high school students who have demonstrated exceptional ability in such areas as literary analysis, media studies, composition, linguistic study, and creative writing, and who meet the requirements of membership.<\/p>\n

Three English teachers and the librarian selected students to be invited for induction into the Voorhees chapter. Minimum requirements for membership are: attendance at the school equivalent of one semester prior to being considered; completion of the equivalent of two semesters of English prior to induction as members; achievement of an English grade point average of at least 3.5 and overall grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) prior to induction as members; application and essay; and submission and payment of the new member enrollment. The 2017-2018 officers of the Voorhees chapter of the National English Honor Society are: President \u2013 Larkin Denlinger, Vice President \u2013 Ava Wentworth, Secretary \u2013 Julia Denlinger, Treasurer \u2013 Stephanie Gonsiewski. Chapter Co-Advisors are English teacher, Lauren Heuer, and Librarian, Leslie Edwards.\u00a0 Assistant Principal, Chris Maslonka, petitioned the National English Honor Society to start a chapter at Voorhees High School.<\/p>\n

Juniors and seniors were inducted on January 26th<\/sup>, but in future years, only juniors will be inducted at the end of their junior year.\u00a0 The first inductees into the Voorhees chapter of the National English Honor Society are: Yadah Ampofo, Brielle Barozzini, Naomi Benenson, Lindsay Borg, Jacqueline Braida, Michael Broslawski, Glin Brower, Jessica Brynildsen, Laura Chen, Megan Coward, Kaylee Fayth Crisitello, Olivia DeBiasse, Kristen Doyon, Cristiana Ercolano, Nicholas Fabbroni, Lia Formica, Rebecca Frost, Nicole Garrett, Bella Hanley, Angela Hudak, Jemma Manu, Colleen McCord, Rebecca Merriken, Matilda Newell, Rebecca Nitti, Shannon Powelson, Mia Ranallo, John Roncoroni, Emily Ryder, Margaret Sell, Christopher Sernas, Julia Silberman, Griffin Stasick, Abigail Thompson.<\/p>\n
