At its meeting on September 24, 2013, the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District Board of Education named Cory Kent as the new head coach of Baseball at Voorhees High School.\u00a0 Mr. Kent is currently a Social Studies teacher at Voorhees High School.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am thoroughly excited to become the new head coach here at Voorhees. I am hoping the lessons I have learned over the course of my career can help our students on and off the field,\u201d stated Mr. Kent on his new position.<\/p>\n
Mr. Kent, once named 2008 Baseball Player of the Year by the Express-Times<\/i> when he played for Wilson Area High School in Easton, PA, comes to Voorhees High School from Lehigh University after an outstanding college career. While at Lehigh University, Mr. Kent was a four-year letter winner, a two-time All Patriot League Player, a two-time All Academic Patriot League Player, and in his senior year, was ranked in the top 15 pitchers in the nation in complete games and earned run average.\u00a0 He has also served as the head pitching coach of the Fayetteville Swampdogs in the Coastal Plains League and as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Lehigh University.<\/p>\n
\u201cVoorhees High School is very fortunate to have the opportunity to hire a young coach with such an extensive playing and coaching background. I am sure that Cory will pass on his expertise to the players in our program,\u201d said Al Stumpf, Director of Athletics at Voorhees High School.<\/p>\n
Sean Leary, Mr. Kent\u2019s baseball coach at Lehigh University, echoes those sentiments. \u201cCory was an outstanding student-athlete during his time at Lehigh. His accomplishments on the field and in the classroom were a testament to his work ethic.
