Our curriculum offers \u201ccarryover\u201d leisure time activities as part of the total program.\u00a0 According to N.J. Law, all students must take and pass physical education, health or driver education requirements. Every student must take the appropriate courses each year he\/she is enrolled in school.\u00a0 The Physical Education Program is designed to develop knowledge and basic skills in a variety of lifetime sports and activities. The physical fitness and well being of our students is addressed in all of the courses offered.\u00a0 We are determined to assess our students\u2019 own particular needs and to attempt to meet these needs by our instruction, facilities, and equipment.\u00a0 Through the incorporation of a wide variety of selected activities, both of an individual and team nature, we hope to provide a sound foundation for physical, social and emotional fulfillment.\u00a0 We seek to provide critical situations which enhance and\/or challenge the students\u2019 judgment, responsibility and overall attitude toward themselves and the environment.\u00a0 The leadership program in physical education is a program designed to gain hands on experience. The overall purpose is to enhance leadership qualities and learn organizational skills.\u00a0 The Comprehensive Physical Education\/Health program is designed to meet the N.J. state mandated program of Family Life Education and the newly adopted Core Curriculum Standards.<\/p>\n<p>Some Physical Education events throughout the year include:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/pehealth\/welcome-to-the-physical-education-department\/pe\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-82\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-82\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/pehealth\/files\/2019\/01\/PE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"213\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spike for a Cure or Hoops for Heart which is an all day school event.<\/li>\n<li>Teen Pep presentations to the freshmen once a month.<\/li>\n<li>Driver&#8217;s Ed has multiple guest speakers come in to do drunk driving speeches as well as simulations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Health and Physical Education program contributes to the total development of the individual emotionally, socially, culturally, mentally, and physically.
