Ay, do YOUSE got talent? Of course youse do. That’s why the ladies of Girl Up, folks – GIRL UP … want YOU to know they’re gonna be hosting their annual North’s Got Talent Show on May 7th – and, as is our wont these days, it will be ALL VIRTUAL. If you are interested in submitting an act, check your student email for details. Individual and Group acts are acceptable, but you GOTTA submit them in video format. So email your video submissions to senior Girl Up leader Emelin Gustafsson and advisor Senora Kush for approval before April 16th. Winners will be voted on and prizes will be awarded. Virtual ticket sales begin after spring break and will be $5, and that purchase includes an opportunity for YOU to cast a vote for your favorite act. All money raised from this year’s talent show will support local charities. So show us your talent, give us a grin! Get up, stand up, and show up for GIRL UP!
If, however, you’re a shy and retiring type, have no fear Girl Up can still use your support – cuz they’re hosting a vital supplies drive for Family Promise Homeless Shelter in Flemington starting Monday, April 12th and that will conclude on Friday, April 30th. You will see, after spring break, boxes that will be stationed at both the main entrance of the high school and also in Room 209 to collect your donations. The intent behind the drive is to gather goods for homeless children in Hunterdon County.
Any of the following donations would be appropriate and appreciated:
- New pillows
- New blankets (twin size)
- Full-size toiletries, including: shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, hair conditioner
- Feminine products (all types and sizes)
- Toilet paper, preferably any brand that is septic safe
- Laundry detergent
So if you can find a little time, and you have some extra stuff you can share with a worthy cause, donate and help the homeless youth of Hunterdon.
Relay for Life is back this year at North Hunterdon High School and is out raise more money than ever for the American Cancer Society – the main event is scheduled for Thursday, May 20th from 6:00-9:00 PM, with a rain date of May 21st! Any COVID-19 restrictions in place in New Jersey at the time of the event will be followed. Find out more upcoming event on its fundraising website and at the above links as well as on the NHHS website. So, sign up your team, make a donation, or dedicate a luminaria in honor of a loved one.
Also, as a pre-spring break treat from our always creative Cafeteria Staff …
FREE MEALS are now being given out to any student who wants one. So, want a meal, grab a “Go Bag” on your way out the door at dismissal. The meals are being handed out daily at the Main Entrance and outside the Theatre. They are, however, to be brought home and prepared at home.
Today’s pre-spring break meal is one that was specially prepared for y’all: petit fours, Beluga caviar, your choice of pheasant under glass in a raspberry white wine reduction or duck a l’Orange, mushroom risotto with capers or potatoes au gratin, freshly-torched creme brulee and a vintage bottle of Arnold Palmer 14, which to my recollection was a very good year, along with a $50 dollar coupon to Vineyard Vines to spent on any pink polo shirt or spring shorts ensemble of your choice.
AHA! Just kidding, April Fool’s Day … we don’t actually have any of those things. You will however, in today’s “GO BAG”, get a breakfast and a “ready to heat” frozen lunch with milk and fruit, AND … PLUS, as a no-foolin’ bonus: a Rice Krispies treat, which is just as good as creme brûlée. Okay, maybe it’s not, but hey – still pretty nice in these fine line times, folks.
Either way, take advantage of these goodies – our intrepid staff works long hours, bagging meals so you can enjoy a little sustenance. That aside, the cafeteria is closed to sales, aka … NO FOOD OR DRINK IN CLASSROOMS. (and absolutely no pizza deliveries either).
HAVE A GREAT AND SAFE SPRING BREAK, EVERYONE!*
*(WE DESERVE IT!)
