{"id":5674,"date":"2014-10-21T11:54:50","date_gmt":"2014-10-21T15:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/home\/?p=5674"},"modified":"2014-11-11T16:12:42","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T20:12:42","slug":"nh-fall-production-anne-of-green-gables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/home\/nh-fall-production-anne-of-green-gables\/","title":{"rendered":"NH Fall Production-Anne of Green Gables"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/home\/files\/2014\/10\/Anne-of-Green-Gables.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5675\" alt=\"Anne of Green Gables\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/home\/files\/2014\/10\/Anne-of-Green-Gables-300x211.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a>Students in the North Hunterdon Theater Organization will perform <i>Anne of Green Gables<\/i> on October 30 and November 1.\u00a0 Based on Lucy Maud Montgomery\u2019s book, the play captures the charm and excitement of that enduring classic.\u00a0 The play is dramatized by Joseph Robinette and produced by special arrangement with Dramatist Publishing Company, Inc. \u00a0Show times are: Thursday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1 at 3:00 and at 7:00 p.m.\u00a0 Doors open for ticket sales thirty minutes before curtain.\u00a0 Tickets, at $8 for general admission and $6 for senior citizens and students, are available at the door.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Anne of Green Gables<\/i> tells the story of young Anne Shirley (played by senior Heather Birmingham), who is adopted by farm woman Marilla Cuthbert (senior Gabriella Siefert) and her brother Matthew (played by junior Fred Darcy) on Prince Edward Island in the early 20<sup>th<\/sup> century.\u00a0 An amusing heroine, Anne fills the Cuthbert\u2019s lives with affection as well as chaos, as she journeys through her teen years amidst many painful yet humorous mistakes, with her bosom friend, Diana Barry (junior Gianna Porfano), at her side and adversary Gilbert Blythe (sophomore Avery Stoker) not far behind.\u00a0 A busy-body neighbor, Mrs. Rachel Lynde (junior Julianne Grillo), is ever ready to note Anne\u2019s shortcomings, but is won over by her spirit and charm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NHTO hopes that the production will encourage people to read the classic <i>Anne of Green Gables.\u00a0 <\/i>To that end, NHTO is offering $1 off the ticket price of audience members who show that they are reading L.M. Montgomery\u2019s novel by bringing their copy to the performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The North Hunterdon Thespian Honor Society is participating in the International Thespian Society\u2019s TOTS EAT food drive.\u00a0 Audience members are invited to bring nonperishable food items to the show.
