The Junior Prom will include dinner and dancing from 6:00pm &#8211; 9:00pm. Tickets for the dance are $110 per person plus an online booking fee. Students that attend the prom may be administered a breathalyzer upon entry. This policy is in place to deter the use of alcohol or drugs by the student population. Attendees are advised to not eat, drink, chew gum or use mouthwash for 15 minutes before entry, as this could cause a false positive. In the event of a true positive test, students will be restricted from co-curricular activities for a period of no less than two weeks and may lose parking privileges for an extended period of time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to be eligible to buy a ticket for the Junior Prom, your student must be in good academic standing and free from all outstanding obligations. Obligation payments should be submitted to Karen Ellis in room 239 during normal school hours. You can check if there are any student obligations through the parent ASPEN portal.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any student who earned less than 30 credits during the previous school year (excluding current freshmen) is not eligible to attend this dance based on the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Board of Education Policy 2430.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Out-Of-School Guests<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">North Hunterdon students inviting out-of-school guests must have the guest approved by our Director of Student Activities, Mr. Petraglia, before purchasing tickets. The <\/span><b>OUT-OF-SCHOOL GUEST form is attached below<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Once approved, the out-of-school guest should purchase the ticket online, complete all the necessary information components, and print out the designated Out-of-School GUEST Ticket. \u00a0Under the Student ID of the guest ticket, enter the NHHS Student ID as \u201cGuest\u201d.\u00a0 We recommend submitting the forms to Mr. Petraglia in Room 239 as soon as your child decides to attend the dance, but no later than Friday, March 1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students and out of school guests will be required to present their printed ticket and photo ID at the door for entry into the dance. \u00a0Acceptable forms of photo ID include but are not limited to: NHHS ID card, identification card from another school, a driver\u2019s license, passport, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Junior Prom Guidelines:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must bring a printed Junior Prom Ticket.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must bring a photo ID.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may not bring water bottles\/other containers or large bags into the dance. Any small purses or medical bags are subject to search.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you are checked in, you are there for the whole event! If you leave the building for any reason, you may not return.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guests who are age 21 and over or are currently in middle school will not be permitted to attend.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Administration reserves the right to deny guest requests for any reason.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students are expected to follow all school policies and procedures, including dress code.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you require special dietary requirements, please contact Mr. Owdij (mowdij@nhvweb.net)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The doors will open at 6:00pm for students to begin checking in. No student will be admitted to the dance after 7:00pm.\u00a0 This is a formal event with attire including but not limited to; suits, tuxedos, and long\/short dresses.\u00a0 No jeans or sneakers will be permitted.\u00a0 If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Melissa Garcia (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:mgarcia@nhvweb.net\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" ><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mgarcia@nhvweb.net<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) or Mr. Michael Owdij (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:mowdij@nhvweb.net\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" ><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mowdij@nhvweb.net<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recognize that the expenses associated with prom can be a hardship for some of our families so we<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wanted to share the following links to organizations that assist with prom dresses:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectselfsufficiency.org\/prom-shop\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" ><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.projectselfsufficiency.org\/prom-shop<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theoutreachconnection.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" ><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/theoutreachconnection.org\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beccascloset.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" ><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.beccascloset.org\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We expect our North Hunterdon High School students to conduct themselves at school-related functions in a manner that would make their parents and our community proud. \u00a0We hope, as their parents do, that our students will present themselves always as persons of integrity. \u00a0However, sometimes students ignore the law and school regulations by engaging in activities that are questionable or illegal. \u00a0\u00a0We hope to ensure that students understand the repercussions of their actions should they choose to use prohibited substances at a school-sponsored event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>REASONABLE SUSPICION<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to New Jersey Statute 18A: 40A-12, school personnel have a legal obligation to report and test students who are suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. \u00a0The following excerpt from the statute provides a basic explanation of why any students suspected of using illicit substances must undergo an alcohol and drug screening conducted under the direction of a physician as well as a physical examination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Under this statute, school personnel cannot make any determination of the medical status of a student by testing via a swab or by breathalyzer.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhenever it shall appear to any teaching staff member, school nurse or other educational personnel of any public school in this State that a pupil may be under the influence of substances as defined pursuant to section 2 of this act, that teaching staff member, school nurse or other educational personnel <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shall report the matter as soon as possible to the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">school nurse or medical inspector as the case may be, or to his designee.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0The principal or his designee, shall immediately notify the parent or guardian and the Superintendent of Schools, if there be one, or the administrative principal and shall <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">arrange for an immediate<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">examination of the pupil by a doctor selected by the parent or guardian<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or if that doctor is not immediately available, by the medical inspector, if he is available.\u201d \u00a018 A: 40A-12<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students with positive test results will be suspended for ten days and undergo a minimum of five counseling sessions with our Student Assistance Counselor (SAC). \u00a0Other disciplinary measures may be imposed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>RANDOM BREATHALYZER TESTING<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Random Breathalyzer Testing will be used at the Junior Prom and is one facet of a comprehensive drug and alcohol prevention program. \u00a0\u00a0The purposes of random breathalyzer testing are to deter students from using alcohol and to identify students who are using so that families can take the appropriate steps.
