Chromebook Information \u2013 Summer 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District has a 1:1 mobile computing device program through which every student is provided a Chromebook to use for schoolwork. Students are also provided with a school Google email address and Google Drive account. The district provides students with two options for Chromebooks: accept a Chromebook issued by the high school district, or bring your own personal Chromebook. An agreement form is required to be filled out in Aspen (see information below).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

District-Issued Chromebook<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

If students choose to accept a district-issued Chromebook, they will be provided the Chromebook, with case and charger, at Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. The Chromebook device has a battery that will last the whole day, a 14\u201d screen and 32GB local storage as well as large storage \u201cin the cloud.\u201d\u00a0 The district\u2019s technology department centrally manages all the Chromebook devices.\u00a0 Devices do need to be turned in at the end of each school year for yearly maintenance and updates.<\/p>\n

Bring Your Own Device<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Students can choose to bring their own Chromebook.\u00a0 The Chromebook would need to be submitted to the technology department at Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 so that it can be registered on the district\u2019s network; device would be returned to student within a couple of days. The district currently supports any Chromebook laptop device (to see options, visit https:\/\/www.google.com\/chromebook\/discover\/<\/a>, search laptops, convertible and\/or detachable). Students cannot<\/u> use iPads, Android Tablets, MS Laptops, Surface, Apple laptops or Kindles devices. Students who use their own Chromebook do not have to submit the device over the summer for maintenance.<\/p>\n

Each high school has a Technology Resource Center (TRC) to assist with any Chromebook issues throughout the school year. Students can also email the TRC with issues at nhtrc@nhvweb.net<\/a> for North Hunterdon or vhtrc@nhvweb.net<\/a> for Voorhees.<\/p>\n

Forms<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

As mentioned above, parents\/guardians must fill out the technology agreement form. <\/strong>The agreement form will ask you to select whether your child is taking a district-issued Chromebook or bringing their own device. In addition, the form also asks you to accept the district\u2019s Acceptable Use Policy, which will allow your child access to the school network.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The technology agreement form must be completed in Aspen (the district\u2019s student information system). Once you log into your parent Aspen account, click on Page Directory on left hand side, then click on Technology Forms. Please complete the agreement form prior to Freshman Orientation on August 23rd<\/sup> so that there is no delay giving your child a Chromebook and access to the school network.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Secondly, under Technology Forms section, please also review and complete the internet photo consent form<\/strong>.\u00a0 We would like to use student photos on our website, social media and with press releases as we publicize great news about our district, but we can only do so with parent permission.<\/p>\n
