Dear Members of the Class of 2025 and Parents\/Guardians:

<\/span>We are fast approaching the beginning of another school year. The staff and administration at North Hunterdon High School are looking forward to meeting you this fall. \u00a0Join with us in a \u201ccommitment to excellence\u201d that will make the 2021-2022 school year a productive one for you and everyone in our school community.<\/span><\/p>\n

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION<\/span>:\u00a0

<\/b>North Hunterdon High School provides a Freshman Orientation program on the first day you are in the building. \u00a0This experience will take place from <\/span>9:45 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.<\/b> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Transportation and busing information with times and bus stop locations will be available in Aspen, located under the Transportation tab. Bus pick-up for Freshman Orientation will be exactly <\/span>two hours<\/b> later than the scheduled normal pick-up time. \u00a0Students should be at the bus stop at least five minutes prior to pick-up. \u00a0Dismissal is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. with a normal afternoon bus schedule for students. Masks are required to be worn while on the school bus as they are mandatory on public transportation. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When freshmen arrive at the high school on Wednesday, August 25, they should go promptly to the theater for a brief assembly. They will then meet their counselor and proceed through a schedule of orientation activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

School lunch will be available for purchase on Freshman Orientation Day.\u00a0 Freshmen may either bring their own lunch or purchase lunch through our cashless school cafeteria.\u00a0 If you plan on buying your lunch, please visit the Food Services website for more information on the cashless pay system by clicking <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. Freshmen will be added to the MySchoolBucks system in mid-August; we will let you know when you can create an account and add funds for cafeteria purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n

ACTIVITIES FAIR:<\/b> \u00a0<\/b>An Activities Fair is included in the Freshman Orientation program from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The fair will take place in the Main Gym and will allow freshmen to explore many co-curricular options.<\/span><\/p>\n


SAFE RETURN PLAN 2021-2022<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Below please find the link to our Safe Return Plan for the upcoming school year.\u00a0 <\/span>Please read through the plan carefully as it details protocols for masks (which are required for everyone inside the school building no matter vaccination status), physical distancing, cleaning and quarantining to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

This year we will have <\/span>two scheduled Back to School Nights<\/b>. Parents of <\/span>9th graders<\/b> are invited to attend on Thursday, <\/span>September 2nd<\/b>.\u00a0 Parents of <\/span>10-12th graders<\/b> are invited to attend on Wednesday, <\/span>September 8th<\/b>. The program on both evenings will begin in the main gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.\u00a0 Parents are reminded to bring a copy of their student\u2019s schedules to this popular year-opening event. Another letter will be sent with details prior to the Back to School nights.<\/span><\/p>\n


ACCESS TO ASPEN<\/span> (Student Information System)<\/b><\/p>\n

In late July, parents\/guardians should have received login information to access Aspen, our student information system. This system will allow you to view your student\u2019s schedule, assignments, attendance, locker information, and fees. \u00a0In addition, your student\u2019s bus route and pick-up time will be available in Aspen. (Please note, the transportation department will not be mailing home bus cards.)\u00a0 If you already have an account in Aspen from last year, please note that your freshman will be automatically added to your account. \u00a0If you have any problems with your parent Aspen account, please contact Sherri DiMarcello, Database Manager, at <\/span>sdimarcello@nhvweb.net.<\/span><\/a> \u00a0Freshmen will receive their own log-in for Aspen during orientation.<\/span><\/p>\n

CHROMEBOOKS AND INTERNET ACCESS<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Our school district has a 1:1 initiative that provides a Chromebook and an assigned password to every student. Students have the option to accept the district-issued Chromebook or to bring in their own Chromebook.\u00a0 If your child will be accepting the district-issued Chromebook, they will receive a Chromebook during orientation on August 25th<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0provided you have completed the agreement form in Aspen (see information below). \u00a0If your child opts to bring their own personal Chromebook, please<\/span> click here<\/span><\/a> for a list of acceptable devices. \u00a0Your child will need to bring their own Chromebook to orientation so we can register the device on the school network, or they can visit the Technology Resource Center outside Cafeteria A during the regular school day.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Parents <\/span>must<\/span> complete a Chromebook agreement form and the acceptable use policy form in Aspen in order for their child to receive a Chromebook and gain access to the Internet and school network. \u00a0Parents of students bringing their own Chromebook must also fill out an agreement form. These forms are available in Aspen, under Page Directory, then Technology Forms.\u00a0 Please fill out one of the Chromebook agreement forms and the acceptable use policy form prior to August 25th, so there is no delay in providing your child with school network access and a Chromebook.<\/span><\/p>\n
