{"id":26617,"date":"2021-07-15T08:30:48","date_gmt":"2021-07-15T12:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/home\/?p=26617"},"modified":"2021-07-15T08:30:49","modified_gmt":"2021-07-15T12:30:49","slug":"chromebooks-and-required-technology-forms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nhvweb.net\/nhhs\/home\/chromebooks-and-required-technology-forms\/","title":{"rendered":"Chromebooks and Required Technology Forms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>July 15, 2021<\/p>\n<p>Dear Parents\/Guardians of Incoming Freshmen and New Students:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District has a 1:1 mobile computing device program through which every student is provided a Chromebook to use for schoolwork. Students are also provided with a school Google email address and Google Drive account. The district provides students with two options for Chromebooks: accept a Chromebook issued by the high school district, or bring your own personal Chromebook.\u00a0 Both options require an agreement form to be filled out in Aspen (more information on that below).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><u>District-Issued Chromebook<\/u>:<\/p>\n<p>If students choose to accept a district-issued Chromebook, they will be provided the Chromebook, with case and charger, at Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. The Chromebook device has a battery that will last the whole day, a 14\u201d screen and 32GB local storage as well as large storage \u201cin the cloud.\u201d\u00a0 The district\u2019s technology department centrally manages all the Chromebook devices.\u00a0 Devices do need to be turned in at the end of each school year for yearly maintenance and updates.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><u>Bring Your Own Device<\/u>:<\/p>\n<p>Students can choose to bring their own Chromebook.\u00a0 The Chromebook would need to be submitted to the technology department at Freshman Orientation on August 25<sup>th<\/sup> so that it can be registered on the district\u2019s network; device would be returned to student within a couple of days. The district currently supports any Chromebook laptop device (to see options, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/chromebook\/find-yours\/\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" >https:\/\/www.google.com\/chromebook\/find-yours\/<\/a>, and filter by Type \u2013 Laptop, Convertible and\/or Detachable). Students <u>cannot<\/u> use iPads, Android Tablets, MS Laptops, Surface, Apple laptops or Kindles devices. Students who use their own Chromebook do not have to submit the device over the summer for maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each high school has a Technology Resource Center to assist with any Chromebook issues throughout the school year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><u>Forms<\/u>:<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned above, parents\/guardians <strong>must fill out an agreement form for either Chromebook option<\/strong>.\u00a0 Form must be completed in Aspen (the district\u2019s student information system). Once you log into your parent Aspen account, click on Page Directory on left hand side, then click on Technology Forms. Please complete an agreement form prior to Freshman Orientation on August 25<sup>th<\/sup>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Chromebook agreement form, all parents\/guardians <strong>must fill out the Acceptable Use Policy form<\/strong>, which enables your child to access the district\u2019s computer network.\u00a0 If you do not complete this form in Aspen, your child will be unable to connect to the internet or the school-issued Google account.\u00a0 This form is also located under Technology Forms in Aspen and must be completed by August 25<sup>th<\/sup>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, under Technology Forms, please also review and complete the internet photo consent form.\u00a0 We would like to use student photos on our website, social media and with press releases as we publicize great news about our district.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you did not yet set up an account in Aspen, please contact our database manager, Sherri DiMarcello, at <a href=\"mailto:sdimarcello@nhvweb.net\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" >sdimarcello@nhvweb.net<\/a> for instructions.\u00a0 If you have any questions regarding the Chromebooks and 1:1 program, please contact our district technology coordinator, Guillermo Vargas-Dellacasa, at <a href=\"mailto:gvargas-dellacasa@nhvweb.net\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"nofollow\" >gvargas-dellacasa@nhvweb.net.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 15, 2021 Dear Parents\/Guardians of Incoming Freshmen and New Students: \u00a0 The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District has a 1:1 mobile computing device program through which every student is provided a Chromebook to use for schoolwork.
