It is North\u2019s first county championship in the Tri-county era and its first overall since it won the Hunterdon\/Warren Tournament in 1999.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Wilson, who earned tournament MVP honors<\/strong>, faced just 27 batters, allowing three hits and walking three with seven strikeouts to improve to 7-0 on the year. Wilson allowed one run in North Hunterdon\u2019s first round win over High Point, followed by shutouts over Newton in the quarterfinals, Hunterdon Central in the semifinals and now Pope John in the title game.<\/p>\n<p>Catcher Andrew Meiners got North (21-7) on the board in the top of the first inning with a two-run home run that just cleared the right field wall. The lead then grew to 3-0 in the third on an RBI single by Jeff Gernon.
