Tenth graders study driver education.\u00a0 The family life units, periodically reviewed for content and level of placement are:<\/p>\n<p>A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grade Nine<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grooming, appearance, and nutrition.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mental health and emotional maturation.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Social development.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Interpersonal relationships.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Human growth, development and reproduction.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Building self-esteem.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Diseases and their prevention.<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Drugs, alcohol, smoking.<\/p>\n<p>B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grade Ten<\/p>\n<p>Units on driver education and safety.<\/p>\n<p>C.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grade Eleven<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Human behaviors; constructive vs. destructive.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Drug classification, legislation and intervention.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Physiological, psychological, social and economic ramifications of sexual relations.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sexually transmitted diseases: their identification and treatment.<\/p>\n<p>D.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grade Twelve<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The family as a social unit.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Factors that affect the family.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Courtship and engagement.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marriage.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Parenting.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roots and causes of domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Alternative life styles.<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The human life cycle (including childhood, adolescence, middle years, aging, dying and death).<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Curriculum Review<\/p>\n<p>The Family Life Education curriculum was developed via consultation and participation of parents, students, teachers, administrators, clergymen, physicians, and community representatives.\u00a0 Whenever the program is revised in future years, this process of consultation will continue.<\/p>\n<p>Parents wishing to review the complete Family Life curriculum for a particular grade level, or specific instructional materials, should make an appointment with the Department Exemption<\/p>\n<p>A parent or guardian who desires that his child be excused from one or more days of instruction in Family Life Education must present to the Principal a signed statement which identifies specific subject matter as being \u201cin conflict with his conscience or sincerely held moral or religious beliefs.\u201d\u00a0 Following review, verification or parental signature, and
