course description:
This course will teach beginning
guitar fundamentals as well as basic music theory concepts. In this
course, students will study basic beginner exercises followed by simple
chord progressions. By the end of the semester, students will be
working on intermediate guitar pieces and the majority of the music will
be in standard musical notation. Several different types of music will
be studied including blues, classical, and rock. Testing will vary and
will be done in both a written and performance format.
Students that take Guitar I at
Voorhees are required to provide their own acoustic guitar. Each
student must also have a spare set of guitar strings. A guitar
tuner is highly recommended, but not required.
