Grading Policy:

o    Grades are determined by the use of a cumulative point system (points accumulated divided by points offered).  Points are then converted to a letter grade as described in your handbook.

o    No individual extra credit will be offered, so it is in the best interest of students who desire to be successful in class that they complete all homework assignments according to directions and the work is handed in at the beginning of class on the specified due date.

o    Tests dates will be announced no later than three days prior, however quizzes will not be announced

o    Students' grades can be monitored online through the following website:

Academic Integrity

The dictionary defines plagiarism as:

1. stealing somebody's work or idea: the process of copying another person's idea or written work and claiming it as original
2. something plagiarized: a piece of written work or an idea that somebody has copied and claimed as his or her own

Plagiarism includes a) copying the work of another author, b) copying verbatim a passage of more than three words and failing to use both quotation marks and a footnote, and c) using ideas not part of one’s own knowledge and failing to acknowledge this usage in a footnote.

A grade of zero will be earned for any assignment, test, or quiz which involves  plagiarism.

Any talking during a test or quiz will also result in a zero

Classroom

Rules:

  1. Respect yourself and others
  2. Bring all materials to class on time
  3. Raise your hand when you wish to speak
  4. Use appropriate language
  5. Observe VHS rules

Attendance:

Students will be fully seated in their assigned seats when the bell rings at the start of class and working on the day’s posted warm up or other work assigned.

Students arriving during or after the bell without an acceptable signed note are marked tardy.

o Three tardies result in a detention and a class absence.

o Absences due to being late for class can easily accumulate and cause a loss of credit for the course so please be vigilant.

Students that cut class will earn a zero for any missed assignments, activities, quizzes, or tests completed on that day.  All visits to Guidance and other student supports are given a pass; please submit this pass before leaving the classroom or skipping class to avoid any confusion

Required Materials:

1     A one and a half  inch binder or folder

2.   Filler Paper (preferably college rule)

3     Blue/Black Pens

4     #2 Pencils

  •  Assignments are done within a prescribed number of days in class and collected.  Any student that does not complete the work within the prescribed time is responsible for completing the work before the end of the marking period on their own.

  • Any assignment not handed in will show up on Home Logic as a zero until it is turned in for a grade

    • as this class is an elective for the broadening of a student's scope of experience I am flexible with due dates for class work, however any work that is not handed in by the end of the marking period will retain the zero grade.

Assignments & Absences:

  • It is the student’s responsibility to check with the teacher and/or classmates for missed homework, quizzes, tests, or other assignments and to make arrangements to get the work completed.

  • All make-up assessments (tests & quizzes) will be completed after school between 2:35 and 3:10 in Room 315

Restroom Use:

Students are encouraged to use the restroom during breaks or between classes, in as much as possible.  With the permission of the teacher, students may leave class with the hall pass to use the restroom.
