Ancient History is a course designed to cover various aspects of ancient civilizations that lead in one way or another to our own, with a focus on those cultures considered “Western Civilizations”.  The following is a list of subjects that will be taught under each era. 

 Grades will encompass small research and class-work assignments, various quizzes and tests.

 1) Stone Age people and their advancements –

o  Paleolithic and Neolithic Era, Archaeology & Anthropology

o  Stages of Human Development & Human Migration

 2) The Chalcolithic Age and Rise of Civilizations –

o  Five requirements of a civilization, development of technology

o  Population identification, development of rules and laws, cities

3) The Bronze Age –

o  Mesopotamian Civilizations, Egyptians, Early Greeks

o  Spread of Trading Empires – India & China

o  Legend of Troy, Heroic Ideal & Myths

4) The Iron Age –

o  Rise of Democracy & Classical Age of Greece

o  Alexander the Great, Decline of Egypt, Decline of Greece

5) Rome –

o  Founding of Rome

o  Roman Republic & Punic Wars

o  Roman Empire & Five Good Emperors

o  Rise of Christianity & Splitting of Empire

o   Fall of Rome
