Lung Cancer from SMOKING

This specimen consists of the right lung, which has been bisected to display a tumour which arises from the main bronchus, approximately 1 cm below the origin of the upper lobe bronchus, and extends behind the bronchus into the adjacent lymph nodes, forming a tumour mass some 6 cm in diameter. The lower and middle lobes have collapsed secondary to the bronchial obstruction, and the cut surface shows fine, yellow flecking, while the bronchi contain yellowish, thick pus.

If you smoke, stop. If you don't, don't start.
